Resurgent

Chapter One Tris

      I wake up on a cold metal table in what looks like the abnegation hospital. I look over to see Tobias asleep in a chair, I keep replaying what happen when David shot me, and I wonder what happened and why I am alive now.

"Tris?" I hear Tobias say as he walks over to the table, "It worked, I can't believe it, and you are alive." I sit up and notice the gun wounds are gone and I am breathing. Tobias hugs me and fits his mouth to mine.

"What do you mean 'it worked'?" I say, he gives me a sour look and sits down. "I and Caleb have been working on a revival serum for the past 5 months; they put you on a ventilator so you could breathe while we experimented and finally we perfected it." Tobias says as he hugs me again, I bury my face in his shoulder, it smells like wind and sweat.

"Tris?" I hear someone say, I look up to find Caleb, his hair messy and flat on one side from sleeping on it. He runs over and hugs me even though I am was hugging Tobias. "It worked, it really worked" Caleb says as he squeezes me in his arms, "I can't believe it worked". I stop listening and I start to cry. I was dead and Caleb, who thinks I hate him, helped Tobias and brought me back. Caleb pulls away and he is crying, "I'm sorry, I should have gone in the lab, not you" he says even though I don't care. "Caleb, I am here now that is all that matters, okay?" I say. Tobias walks over and folds his hand in mine, "You ready to go home?" he says with a smile. "Yes" I say as I pull his waist next to mine.

We get to Tobias' house when I feel a strange pain in my stomach, I try to keep from saying anything but words come out, "Ouch!" I yell, Tobias turns and I see panic in his eyes. "Tris, you okay?" He asks. "Yeah, I think it was just a cramp" I say but I know it isn't but I am not sick. We walk inside and he takes me upstairs to the bathroom where he said he would be my family. We sit on the tub in silence for a minute and then Tobias gets down on one knee, "Tris, ever since I pulled you down from the net a year ago I knew I liked you and then I planned a whole thing where you went through my fear landscape and I took you down to the chasm, but war then got in the way, and then when I saw your body, cold and white on the table I went into depression but then we made the revival serum and I don't want to lose you again because I love you, Beatrice. Will you marry me?" He says as he starts to cry, all I can do is nod and whisper, "Yes."

Tobias gets up and wraps his arms around my waist and kisses me on the lips. I kiss him back and think that everything will be perfect now.
