You walked down the halls of the mansion, a huge grin on your face that you were trying to hide(unsuccessfully). Plumeria's room was sort of hidden away, bit you knew exactly where to find it. Hopping over a pile of boxes, you turned a corner, coming face to face with a heavily spray-painted door. The bright colors and splashes of paint were all too familiar to you. You'd sat against this door for hours when Plumeria refused to let you in, or sometimes you'd be on the other side of it. You liked the inner side much better. That was the one you saw when she let you in and you'd both talk for hours.
Raising your fist to the door, you knocked in the secret pattern only you two knew. Despite being overjoyed at learning of Plumeria's feelings for you, you still felt anxiety gnawing at your gut. You told yourself Guzma wouldn't lie to you about something this important. He did seem excited about it too. What a dork
The creak of the doorknob turning jerked you from your thoughts. She was here! And she was actually going to talk to you.
The thought sent your heart racing. It had been weeks since you'd talked to Plumeria. Even a day was too long for you.
"Plumeria, I-" You stopped short. There was no one there? Only the sight of her room greeted you. No bright hair, no piercing yellow eyes. "Wha-?"
A tug at the fabric of your pants inclined you to look down. There you saw a wide-eyed Salandit who stared up at you with curiosity. You sat down close to it, knowing it belonged to Plumeria. The small lizard crawled onto your lap, then made an odd little noise. It almost sounded scared.
"Hey, are you okay little buddy?" You questioned it, worried.
The slandit simply looked up at you and tugged your sleeve.
You thought for a moment. Plumeria had a salazzle, maybe this little guy was from an egg or had been adopted. Either way, Plumeria wasn't here an you suspected salandit missed her. You made your way out out the door, cradling the small fire/poison type lizard in your arms. "Well, she could be at that one house Guzma mentioned." You reassured yourself. The excitement and anxiety were both still swirling in your gut, and you were especially apprehensive after the big leadup that turned out to be nothing more than the small reptile you were now holding in your arms.
Letting out a sigh, you exited the mansion and stepped into the downpour that was almost always present in Po town. You reached into your backpack and took out a spare jacket you always carried with you, then wrapped the salandit in it so it didn't get wet. You assumed it probably didn't like the rain, being a fire type and all.
The bundle of lizard now held securely in your arms, you made your way down the spray-painted and crumbling streets of Po town. It was a bit of a challenge to see through the rain, especially with gusts of winds creating a heavy mist. Within a few minutes, you were absolutely soaked. This presented you with an incentive to find the "third house down on the left" quickly.
Hopefully you wouldn't catch cold.
~Timeskip of about 30 seconds~
Well, you were on the porch of the suggested house, thoroughly soaked and clutching a jacket-wrapped salandit in your arms.
Your raised arm hovered close to the door, hand balled in a fist.
Well, here goes nothing.
You knocked three times against the door, electing to use a common knock instead of your special one. Minutes passed, no movement could be heard from inside the house. You desperately hoped she was home.
Trying once more, you knocked again, this time using the special knock only you and Plumeria knew.
And waited.
