Out of the Shadows

Chapter 1

Alex had been with Skye for as long as she can remember. When they first met they were 5 years old at a foster home. Ever since that day they became best friends more like sisters. They went from foster family to foster family together. Alex and Skye were inseparable. They did everything together which led them here with the Rising Tide. Alex was the name she chose for herself, not really knowing what her true name was. It's the only thing she goes by.
Alex could fix anything and any other thing she learned she memorized everything. She was very very smart. Her personality was that she always likes to do the right thing. Kind and Caring, but sometimes shy,serious, and sometimes sarcastic. Skye's talent was that she could hack anything with her amazing computer skills. Skye was outgoing, sarcastic, and funny. But also caring and serious when she needs to be. No matter what they both need and love each other.

Loneliness. What is it? It's the feeling when you have no one. No friends. No family. Nothing to give you comfort. No one to pick you up if you've fallen. It isn't a good feeling. Loneliness can make people do crazy things. It can make you feel like you have a void in your heart or that something or someone is missing. It hurts to know that you feel alone or that your life isn't complete. For Alex she had Skye. Skye is that missing piece to her. Alex would have never turned out to be this type of person without Skye. As Alex was thinking, she thought of all the possibilities of what would have happened to her in her life if she wasn't with Skye. The possibilities were endless and they didn't seem to end well or very successful.But something else was still missing to Alex she just doesn't know what it was. Lost in thought, Alex kept thinking of this and walked down the alley to see a familiar van in its same spot. She went and opened the door to see her best friend Skye sitting there eating her chips.
"I was gone for like 20 minutes and you are already eating...... wait are those my chips?" A shocked look spread across Skye's face but also with a smile forming on her lips. "What no these are not your chips....... and it felt like you were gone for an hour so I had to eat something" Skye said. "Uh huh so then why is my name on the bag?" Alex said with a smirk lifting up her eyebrows. It was a good idea to label her stuff. Skye looked down at the bag in her hand. "Ok you got me. I'll buy you another bag. But I am really hungry so did you get the food?" Skye asked smiling. Alex just laughed and handed her the bag. Skye snatched that bag up and took the food out. Taking one large bite of her burger she just hummed looking at Alex. Well looks like the burger is good. "Can I have some fries or are you going to eat those too?" Alex said joking around with her. Skye laughed a little because her mouth was filled with food she handed Alex some fries. Alex grabbed the fries saying a quick 'Thank you' before sitting down in her small space of the van after closing the door.

As she was sitting in her small space she observed the van that Skye and her had lived in and called home. Alex went to the computer and started typing away. Alex turned towards Skye. "So what are we talking about today?" Alex asked just curious to know. Skye was sipping her water and throwing her food away, and after doing that she turned to Alex and said, "The Truth". As she said that Alex already knew what she was talking about. "Alright then, everything is set up. Whenever your ready we can get started." Alex told her with a genuine smile. Skye smiled in return and said,"Ok in a minute. Also I think afterwards we should walk around see if any strange things happen in California today." Alex nodded her head in agreement. As Skye got up from her spot and walked over to sit in her seat in front of the microphone, Alex put the headphones on and flicked a couple switches.

Both girls stared at each other giving one another a genuine smile. "Ready in 3......2.....1" as Alex was counting down she clicked the Recording button and Skye did what she does best...... which is letting people know that we are here and that we know the truth.

Skye speaking:

"The Secret is Out. For decades your organization stayed in the shadows hiding the truth. And now we know. They are among us. Heroes and Monsters. The world is full of wonders!"
