Chapter 3: Finding the Truth

Kathryn and her friends, including Joaquin are on their way to their usual hanging place in the school. Kathryn's friends were in front of her and Joaquin. They were talking about the two of them.

Julia:

'Kathryn could never hide anything from us.' I said to my friends making sure that Kathryn couldn't hear me. They all said at once 'Yeah!' "We know her more than she knows!" Destiny added. We all knew what she was like and what kind of person she is. We know what she could do and how good she is about anything.

The group of friends arrived at their hanging place and they all sat down to at their usual sits. However, there was one problem, Joaquin doesn't know where to sit. Kathryn sat next to Christian and Emerald as usual but she asked Emerald to move up a little so that Joaquin could sit next to her. Emerald then moved to the other side of the table and sat next to Julia.

Emerald:

'Look at the two of them!' I said to Julia. We stared at the two of them as they speak to each other. We were also making comments as we go. Neither of us has the any idea if they have noticed us whispering to each other. Julia and I included Destiny on our conversation about Kathryn but not the boys, they were talking about something else. Break has finally finished and we all went to our lessons. Us 3 girls (Destiny took a different subject) including Brian. The other two boys went to a different lesson too. We all said our goodbyes to each other. Julia and I noticed how sweet Kathryn said goodbye to Joaquin than the way she said goodbye to the other two boys.

Julia:

We all smiled and teased Kathryn as she joins us walk to our next class. 'Stop it!' Kathryn said to us. Emerald then replied 'Okay! Okay!' We don't think Brian has any idea about what we were talking about so he decided to walk ahead of us, making an excuse why he wants to go ahead. I asked Kathryn again 'Do you like him? We saw how you talked to him!'. She didn't reply until we are almost near our classroom. 'I said NO already! And I saw the three of you whispering about us at the table' she replied. Emerald and I looked at each other. When we look at each other even without speaking, we know what were thinking in our heads.

The lesson was a double lesson and lunch has finally came. The group of friends went to their usual place but Kathryn didn't come with them as she has to talk to a teacher about something. However, she promised to catch up with them as soon as she can. As Kathryn was about to go to their hanging place she bumped to someone really special to her, it was Joaquin of course. Kathryn invited Joaquin go stay with them again but he said no this time as he also have to go to basketball club practise. Kathryn learnt something new about Joaquin. Though she was happy about finding something new about him she still felt sad.

Kathryn:

I found out something new about him but I don't know how should I feel. I'm happy that I'm getting to know him but I really wish I could spend time with him just like earlier at break. Break was not enough to be with him. I went to our hanging place and my friends quickly noticed me. They knew that there was something wrong with because as soon as I sat down they said to me 'What's the matter?' This question proved me that they know me a lot. I told them what happened and they all felt sad for me. Destiny then said to me 'Look we know you like him and you can never hide anything from us. We are always here for you when you need anything.' What she said to me touched my heart and I knew that moment that I can't hide it from them anymore. I decided to tell them the truth about me liking Joaquin and made them swore never to tell anyone. They were really happy for me and hope me for the best.

The group of friends talked about how Kathryn liked Joaquin for the rest of lunch. When lunch finished they all went to their lessons still keeping in mind about Kathryn.

2 more days of school had past. During this 2 days Kathryn got Joaquin's number. She was a bit sad as she will not get to see him for 2 days.
