Abigail has had to fight her whole life, after finally saving enough money for college, she rejoiced when she realized she could finally get away from her parents. But things dont go as she planned, going to school to be a morgtian, she realizes quickly that she doesnt have the money for it. So she takes up the first job she can get, which happens to be a stripper at the local one down town. Three months later, and still struggling to keep her landlord from kicking her out of her one room apartment, her parents call, demanding that she return home, and give up on the silly nonsense of becoming a morgtian. But for once, she doesnt listen to them, but soon she realizes she should have. A man who has been obsessed with her dancing has taken it to the next level, showing up at her house, and making threats on her life. Not content with giving up her dream, she stays believeing that he will just go away, but that fantasy ends a few weeks later, when he attempted to take her life outside of the strip club.
Scared for her life, she realizes that she has no where to go. She fears going home for her parents verbal and physical abuse, and she fears the very city she's been living in. Not sure what else to do, she runs, not having a car, she literally runs away. But she soon finds herself being stalked not only by the very man she is trying to escape, but a pulling force that she cant seem to wrap her mind around. Running down an abandoned alley way, desperate to escape the creeping shadow behind her, she stumbles upon a girl her age, by the name of Alice.
"Are you alright", she asked, the dirty blonde girl, as she crouched beside the woman.
Alice jumped up, panic and fear flashed through her eyes, before her pale blues met her vibrate greens.
"Where am I", her hoarsed voice asked, "Where did the Looking Glass take me?"
Giving her a confused look, Abigail answered, "Your in London, England. Are you sure your alright?"
Alice gave the woman a confused look, "London? I've been here before...however you do not sound like your from here."
Abigail smirked, "Im originally from the United States, a southerner to tell you the truth."
Alice smiled, her lips curling up slightly, showing a row of perfect white teeth, that made Abigail a little envious. Though she did not have crooked teeth, she did have unusually long canine's causing plenty of teasing when she was a small child.
"What is your name", Alice asked.
"Abigail", she answered, "And you?"
Alice smirked, "Alice, Alice of Hearts."
Abigail gave her a confused look, but quickly let it drop as her hearing picked up the creepers footsteps.
"We must hurry", Abigail said quickly, rushig towards the woman as she stood, taking her hand, "He'll be upon us any moment, we must hide."
Alice looked back at Abigail, "You must hide....and I have the perfect place."
Pulling the looking glass from the pocket hidden in the pocket of her ripped folds. Confused, they both stared into the looking glass. Abigails eyes nearly popped out of her head, as she saw a land so colorful, it made Alabama in the fall look dull.
"What is that place", Abigail asked, her voice barely high enough to hear.
Alice smirked, seeing her plan working, "Its called Wonderland, it will be a safe place for you to hide."
Abigail looked back at Alice, "Me? What about you?"
"Dont worry about me", Alice answered quickly, "Dont you want a fresh start? To be safe, and away from the thing you are running from? I can see you are miserable here Miss Abigail. I can assure you this place will make all of your dreams come true."
Abigail looked back at the looking glass, with curiousity, and skepitism, "How do I know your not lying?"
"I never lie Miss Abigail", Alice said, growing impaitent, "It is against my code."
Sighing, Abigail met the impaitent eyes of Alice, "How do I get there?"
The impaitentness in her eyes soon turned to joy, as she shoved the looking glass into Abigails hand, and taking her free one, and making one of her fingers touch the glass. Abigail felt her whole body slowly start to go numb.
"By the by", Alice said, slipping something slightly heavy into her skirt pocket, "You may come of use to these, but be warned fair Abigail, do not let anyone here know that you possess a looking glass, or their truly will be hell to pay. Ladies of the upper class look down upon them, and if father is to find out that you stole it, I fear he may finally loose what little restraint he possesses."
She smirked, anything her father had, she could take. Her parents had done much worse, and she was lucky to only have a few light scars from her childhood.
"Alice", she said, loosing feeling in her arms, and legs, "Did you come from this place? Why did you leave? Why are you telling me all this?"
Alice smirked, reminding her of the smile of a Cheshire Cat, as she leaned to Abigails ear, and whispered, "Fairfarren Abigail."
With those foreign words floating through her head, the cold London alley faded to black. jjj
