The Beautifully Haunted

Chapter 1

Kathrine

Kathrine sits , at her window staring at the Moon and Stars, remembering that old saying "The man in the moon" and wishing desperately that the man in the moon would fly down and take her away.

With her knees tucked tightly against her chest and her head in her arms she's listening to the sounds of screaming and crying and the most horrific words being thrown from her fathers mouth as he teeters on his toes as her mother cowers in the corner.

Kathrine desperately wanting to get away, Grabs her favorite novel and crawls into bed. Joining her favorite world, Kathrine falls asleep peacefully.

Not even moments later Kathrine was shaken awake by little hands. That could only mean one thing. They woke Jessica up,

"Kitty Kat.. i can't sleep..." Jessica sobbed as softly and quietly as she could.

"Come here Messy Jessy.. Come lay with me" Kathrine whispers as she lifts the blankets back far enough to fit her little sister.

 Jessica is Kathrine's 4 year old little sister. With her messy pig tails and a dazed look on her face, Jessica crawls in bed with Kathrine and covers her ears. 

Kathrine grew up like this by herself... always scared, always alone. Kathrine Vowed on the day Jessica was born, Jess would never have to go through what Kathrine went through alone, and Kathrine has been keeping her promise to the best of her abilities. Even though everytime she tried to take Jessica and go out somewhere to just get away from everything, Kathrine would pay a huge price for it.

All Kathrine ever knew was that no matter what you did you always paid a terrible price for it...
