Chapter 1
"Good night Mrs. Mulligan! Enjoy your orchids!" I tell a regular. She smiles back and waves good bye. I hear the door chime as she walks out gleaming at the white and purple orchids. I grin and check my watch. 5 minutes till closing, might as well get started. Mrs. Mulligan is normally the last customer of the day. I sweep the floor, water the last couple of plants, and start counting the amount of cash made. I hum and replace the cash. I turn around to start putting my apron up when I hear the shattering of glass. I flinch and cover my neck with my hands, as I hear the glass fall I turn back around only to see two men both holding guns.
"Looks like we do have some assistance in findin' the stuff!" one of them chuckled as he pointed his at me. I stood up and my hands followed. I pressed myself against the wall.
"P-please... d-don't hurt me! Just- just take the money! It's all in the register! Please..." I voice panicky. They both chuckle, one of them keeps their gun on me as I whimper tears falling from fear. The other quickly stashes money and they both flee, carelessly knocking my plants and hard work over.
I shakily walk towards an orchid laying on the ground, I fall to my knees as I gingerly pick up the orchid. I hear the police sirens on their way and see the faint red and blue of their lights. I clutch the flower closely to my chest and tears freely flow.
"Never again..." I mutter under my breath.

2 YEARS LATER
"Hilda, I don't see why you're making me come with you to your lab. Plus I doubt they'll even let me past the entrance," I argue as my friend drags me by my wrist.
"Zion, you're always in your shop. If you're gonna stay inside then the least you could do is get a change of scenery," Hild huffed. I let out a sigh. I suppose she was right.
"Yeah alright. What have you been working on?" I asked and she released my wrist, now that I was compliant. I held tight to my purse only to have it ripped away as Hilda was about to respond. I stumbled forward a bit. I saw the man run straight down the street and ram into two men taking their... ladder?
"Mother fucker!" Hilda muttered. I turned to look at her. She was fuming at the new development. She turned to me with concern on her face. I was shaking slightly, I took a step back putting a hand to my forehead as I tried to 'calm my heart down'. She quickly turns and makes a dash down the street.
I stand back up looking to where Hilda ran off. I let out a sigh, rubbing my forehead. Having to keep up the act of being scared to go outside is exhausting. Suddenly my heart is actually gripped with panic, and my breathing speeds up. My eyebrows furrow at this. What the hell? I haven't had a panic attack in 2 years? I think. I lean back against the wall actually having a panic attack when I hear loud footsteps in my direction.
I quickly look up, being face to face with a man in a blue shirt with some kind of insignia tapped on, he was wearing yellow rubber gloves, and a blue towel. He looked like some kind of newbie super hero. He made eye contact with me as I finally managed to calm my breathing. I saw he had my purse.
"Are you alright ma'am?" He asks offering me a hand. I nod and accept his hand. He helps me stand, myself still being slightly woozy.
"Uh.. yeah. Just a little surprised. A guy in a ski mask ran off with my purse... which you have now," I quickly point out. His eyes widen slightly and glances at the purse. He looks back at me and hands it over. I smile at him. He seems content with my smile, and I turn to walk away. When suddenly I hear Hilda yelling at some about handling it. I sigh and start walking the way she took off in, when I hear the stranger's footsteps catch up with my own. I glance at him and see he's walking with me.
