Chapter 9 ~ the investigation

Amanda's POV

I woke up today and felt like going into the city, I had a client meeting with Nolan at 3 so I had from now until then to go and have a nice lunch at a cafe.

My dad seemed to be working constantly at the bar, but it was summer so people were pouring in, it would calm down in a week or two.

I caught a taxi to a little cafe called vintage aura. While I was there, something felt weird there was a guy behind me in a black suit taking notes. I decided to ignore him. When I walked out he followed me. I started to walk quicker and so did he. I called Daniel, 'Daniel help someone is following me!'

Daniels POV

I was in the office when Amanda's call came through. She sounded frantic and all I wanted to do was hug her. 'Calm down, where are you I'll come pick you up' I said. She told me where she was and I raced down to the car and drove off to where she was.

Amanda's POV

Daniel said he was on his way so I had to stay put for the time being. The guy just circled around me writing notes, I even thought I saw a couple of flashes go off. It was so scary. As soon as he arrived and got out of the car I ran to him and hugged him, a single tear slid down my cheek. He wiped it off, 'hey don't cry, I'm here I've got you now, you're safe.' He whispered.

The guy was still watching us and I pointed him out to Daniel. As soon a he saw Daniel coming he ran off but he dropped a card. It read

Daniels POV

'I cannot believe she did this!' I was almost yelling, 'for once I thought she liked a girl that I liked but no she does this!'

'Daniel calm down, it's ok' Amanda said to me but from the way she looked at me with the worry in her eyes I could tell she was shaken up.

'Amanda she will pay for this, I want her as far away from you as possible so she can't hurt you' I said yelling now.

'Ok, Daniel but now I have a meeting with Nolan.' She said, slowly walking away.

'I cant leave you alone, look at you you're still shaking' I said a taking my jacket off and wrapping it around her.

She looked at me, 'I have to go, Nolan is counting on me.'

'Amanda I'm sure he'll be fine once he understands what has happened.' I said, 'do you want me to call him?'

She looked at me, 'is that okay?' She asked.

'Of course!' I replied with a smile, 'now you go hop into the car.'

'Ok!' She smiled at me and hopped into the car.

I found Nolan's number and dialled it. He picked up, 'hello nolcorp Nolan Ross speaking.' Nolan said.

'Hey Nolan it's Daniel Grayson, I'm sure you've heard about Amanda and I. I was just calling to say my mother hired an investigator to follow Amanda, she's pretty shaken up and won't be able make it to the meeting this afternoon, I hope that's ok.' I said.

He was speechless, 'um yeah that's fine is she okay, I can push back the meeting and come stay with her if she wants?' He asked.

'Nolan you're a lifesaver, that would be great! Meet you at the beach house in 15 mins?' I asked.

'See you there!' He said before he hung up the phone.

I hopped into the car, 'um I hope it's okay, Nolan asked if you needed him to come over to your place and I said yes.'

She just nodded. When we got to the beach house, I helped her out of the car and she hugged me, our eyes met and we kissed for what felt like an hour but was probably only a minute. We finally released our lips. 'I love you Amanda Clarke!' I said. She hugged me, 'I love you too Daniel Grayson!'

Amanda's POV

Daniel just said he loved me, I loved him too so I said it back. It was the most amazing feeling someone could ever experience. I was still shaken up about the investigator, but Daniel made me feel safe and warm. I loved him more than I have loved anyone in my life.

Just then Nolan walked around the corner, he ran over, 'Mandy are you okay?' He asked me. I let go of Daniel and hugged Nolan, 'I'm fine just a little shaken up that's all.' Then I went over and stood next to Daniel who kissed my on the top of the head.

'I have to go talk to my disgraceful monster of a mother and get her to explain herself, will you be alright?' He asked.

I nodded.

'See you later, thanks nolan' he said.

'No problem Danny boy' Nolan replied.

Daniel drove off and I walked inside with Nolan and told him the events of what had happened.
