Amy at the age of 5, watch as the snowflakes floated and drifted down and landed softly on their windowsill. She loved watching the snow fall in winter! She rest her head down on the edge of her window and watched until something caught her eye. Her neighbor that lived across from them had a tree with a star on top of it with presents wrapped and placed neatly under. She lifted her head and peered through harder to see more details and found many circles and Ts on it.
"Mommy!" She yelled. "Mommy, what are the neighbors doing?"
Her mother raced downstairs to see what Amy was up too. She walked towards and peered out the window, with her slippers clapping against their hard floor. She stood and replied "They are setting up a Christmas tree, honey."
"Whats a Christmas tree?"
Her mother pushed and sat in a rocking chair near the window and patted her lap, signaling for Amy to climb up on her lap.
"Christmas is where people celebrate a god's birth."
"What god?"
"A god we don't believe in..."
"Why don't we believe in him mommy?"
"NO EVIDENCE!!" Her big brother yelled out of the kitchen.
"Right. So that's why we don't celebrate it."
"B-but, the presents under it!"
"That's also part of the celebration, dear. Now brush your teeth and get ready for bed."
"Ok..."
Amy slid off her lap and stumbled upstairs to the bathroom. She took one last glimps of the tree, then stomped up the stairs. "What IS Christmas?" She asked herself. "What kind of god are they celebrating???" She wondered and wondered but never knew... Until winter rolled around one day at 15.
