  Prologue

The car door opened and my new neighbour walked out. My new mom ( I'll get back to this later), Rosie went to greet him with a hamper she had stocked the night before. I opened the window so I could hear their conversation.

" I'm Rosie your new neighbour my family and I live right across you" she smiles and hands him the basket, "these are for you and your family", he looks familiar I cant just. I go out to get a better look and she sees me. "this is my daughter Aviva", he doesnt recognise me thank heavens. His front door opens and a tall woman with dark hair walks out she I dressed casual but it looks like outfits on a model for cosmopolitan or vogue. Once our eyes meet she runs towards me and shouts "Aviva, I've missed you" she hugs me. Everyone theres surprised except us and I whisper "me too auntie".

She hugs Rosie "Hi Im Esme, Collins wife. Im shocked "you're married" and I said it out loud. "for four years, didnt Daniel tell you", she pauses for a while and smiles. "you must be Rosie, Daniel's fiance. Im Esme his sister".

"Nice to meet you. Well see you around".

About the new mum part. My real mums name is Janelle. My dad, daniel and as Janelle new each other since they were kids. They liked each other but were to shy to admit it. Her best friends Josephine and Julianna (everyone called them three j's) knew that she liked him. They were soulmates every year she would write a card for him on val's day but never gives him. That year in tenth grade her friends dragged her to his table the soccer team sat. When he saw her there he froze and she started stammering. The head of the debate team stammering. When she finished he was smiling "like a fool" (his exact words). Then his best friend Chris dragged out an envelope while dad was still frozen and asked the stupidest question "what year are we?"

"1994", she answered with a questioning look.

"1990, 1991, 1992..." Till he got to 1994 and handed her a card with her name on it and collected her's. The envelope had "Janelle Peters" written boldly on it. Her friends had to drag her back because she was frozen. They had been writing letters to each other since they were little (how cute). Then junior prom had an after party after it they did the you-know for the first time and she got pregnant for me but they still love each other. Grandpa had to sent them to Africa were they had me. They had been planning their wedding since they started going out. When she turned twenty-three and I was seven he proposed and we started living as a family. Before I spent six months with each parent.

You might be wondering what happened to her, but sorry to burst the bubbles of those who expect the love to die. It never did it was till them did parted them. My mom died a hero and a fighter she was and still is my role model.

She became a lawyer. She took care of criminal cases involving children. In her first six month she had won eight cases and one day a child ran into her office looking dirty and scared. Her secretary Kim just came in from lunch when she ran in. She came to take the child away but my mom told her to leave her. She asked if she was hungry she nodded. She drove her back home gave her a bath and some clothes. She gave her some sandwiches and juice.

"Thank you", the girl replied.

"Their for my daughter", she smiles "I'm Janelle". She stares at her, "I presume you need a lawyer", she nods. "how old are you?"my mom asks.

"Ten", she breathes feeling more relaxed, "My name is hadiza"

"How can help you Hadiza?"

"Someone is after me," she whispers as if the person might be there.

"Do you know who?"

"Yes, Mr. Ali"

"Who is Mr. Ali"

"Daddy's business partner"

"Does your daddy know?"

"He shot him"

"Im so sorry", she took a long gulp of her juice.

"Do you know why?"

"Mommy and daddy were arguing that he is a bad man one time", she was staring into somewhere else.

"What does your daddy do?"

"He sells expensive vases, its our family business" she pauses"but one day when they were loading the vases one broke and grass was in it and that was when they started arguing, then mommy died"

They went to court and Mr. Ali was locked up while being tried. Hadiza started to live with us and we became best friends practically sisters.

One day my mom went to her office with Hadiza. Some strange men were there she ran out with Hadiza to get her while hadiza called the police. I dont know what happened but one of them poimted their gun at Hadiza. My mom pushed her out and took the bullet and they polive disarmed them. Thats how I met Rosie she was the head doctor at the hospital she battled to keep my mom alive. The bullet hit her spinal cord. As my dad called Esme to take us home she died. The next week Hadiza mom came to pick her up she had lost her memory during the crash and some locals took care of her. My mom is a super hero that was what dad told me at her burial.

She walks in and asks, "Avi isnt that the guy that made the bet at the bar years ago", Hadiza asks. That was how I know him. He was the drunk guy that made a life or death bet.

"Remember Kyle's dad's bar four years ago, some men talking about a princess, her ball and how hard it is to get a second chance to impress her-", I cut in

"Of course I remember who wouldnt remember a guy who gave his friends a nice to cut off his balls if he didnt get a girl"

"What's aunt Esme doing with him?" She asks as Collins grabs her waist and ushers them in.

"They are married", she touches my head to make sure Im not sick.

" I cant imagine marrying a man with no balls"

"Maybe his friends had mercy because the way he was yelling like he would marry that princess girl"

"Or maybe he did, tall, dark hair, a body to die for... Do the desriptions ring a bell", all I can do is stare because I hate admitting that Hadiza's right.
