NOT EDITED
The week has finally come to an end and I was excited for the weekend to come.
I walked to the direction of the park, it being Friday means I'll sit on the squeaky swing for a while before I have to leave. And I am not going to lie when I say I was disappointed when Jake wasn't by my side while I walked there. I had slowed down my walking pace in case he had been help up in school or something. Sadly, I still had no one to accompany me on the way to the park.
I sat on the swings with my ear buds in, the music filling my hearing. I hadn't noticed the presence of someone until a pair of shoes were standing next to the swing. I let out a laugh as I dug my heels into the sand to make the swing come to a stop.
"May I join?" Jake asked humorously. I hummed, faking a mental debate with myself.
"You may, I suppose." I said, tapping my fingers to my chin. I let out another laugh as he took a bow in front of me, then took a seat on the swing without actually swinging.
I turned down the music on my Ipod in case we were to have a conversation.
I looked up and smiled at Jake, showing all of my teeth in a playful way. He returned the gesture. I crossed my eyes and stuck out my tongue, he laughed.
"You're very cheerful today." He chuckled. I felt the heat rise up to my cheeks as I shielded my face with my hair. "Hey, it's not a bad thing. It's cute." He reassured me. My face turned beet red as he complimented me.
I heard the swing creak as he lifted his body weight from it. His shoes appeared in front of me, inches from my shoes. My head was stilled bowed and I didn't make an effort to lift it. I knew I would be even more embarrassed from the red splashing my face. He stood there waiting for me to make eye contact and when he didn't he lifted my chin with his thumb. My red face made a laugh erupt from his mouth. I stuck out my bottom lip in a pout, I don't like when people laugh at me.
"Sorry." He tried to contain his laughing, but failed miserably. A puff of air came from my nose showing more of my annoyance. "Oh, come on. It's funny! It's really adorable when you blush." I shook my head.
"It's not adorable. It's embarrassing." I whined.
"Well, it shouldn't. Anyway, you would laugh if I was blushing like that." He reasoned. I couldn't help but crack a smile, he's right. "See!? You would." He said as I nodded.
It was then I realized that he hadn't removed his hand from my chin. He noticed as well, and dropped it to his side. I stood up feeling a bit awkward, but the feeling didn't fade as we were closer than before. I had expected him to move, but he didn't. He slowly brought his had up to my jaw and caressed it. I tried to fight it, but I gently leaned into his hand. My heart pounded as his face inched closer to mine before he gently kissed my cheek. He waited, his lips closed enough to bush my skin but not make contact. When I didn't move he moved his head, pressing his lips to the corner of my mouth. His hand was still on my jaw, his thumb gently rubbed my cheek.
I was terrified he could feel my heart pounding.
Kiss me. Kiss me. Kiss me.
I chanted in my head. Just as I thought he was going to, he pulled away.
"Sorry." He sheepishly apologized.
"Don't be." The words slipped out of my mouth before I could stop them.
"Okay, then I am not sorry, not sorry at all." He smirked. I smiled. He dropped his hand from my jaw.
We stood in silence, both of us not sure where to look. After a while, I pulled out my phone and checked the time.
