The leaves outside were a color of molten gold, others red and vibrant. The gust of wind blew more dying and dull russet colored leaves to the grass below. Inside the classroom, watching the day go by, I could literally feel the chilling wind as I saw a girl push back her hair to keep it from her face. I could see a few blocks away, smoke coming from what it could be in front of a home or backyard. I can only imagine what the air smelled like on the outside: burning crackling leaves filling the air with it's harsh aroma. I let out a big sigh, the breathy noise catching my instructor's attention.
"I'm sorry if Biology is such a bore to you Ms. Wakaba." My instructors brown eyes pieced through the thin framed classes she wore.
I quickly stood up and bowed apologetically.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Keen." With her nod of acceptance I took my seat.
I went back to my thoughts again, it was my senior year and I couldn't help but to think about my future. I didn't know what I want to do after I graduate. My mother had always hoped for me to become a doctor, a teacher, or maybe a nurse, but in all honestly I couldn't see myself doing any of those things. Maybe I go off to college and end up being some business woman, working behind a desk with good pay and working a lot of hours. I could be a biologist since I'm doing better than I thought in the class itself...but at the end of the day it all sounds boring. I never thought about my future, or where my life can take me. I always lived in the moment because I feel that life...was much more exciting that way.
The bell had finally rung and I picked up my books heading towards the door, but Mrs. Keen had blocked my path before I could leave the classroom.
I smiled sheepishly.
"Sorry for today Mrs. Keen, I haven't been sleeping as much."
"I can tell, you were spacing out. Is everything alright? It's unlike you to not pay attention in class, especially with great scores like yours. You're one of my favorite students and I need to make sure you'll be alright for the next exam." She replied worried.
"I think it's because it's final year and I'm stressing a little bit that's all."
Mrs. Keen put her hand on my shoulder in reassurance with a smile.
"I understand, Airi. Have you applied at colleges yet?"
"No..." I meekly said.
She turned to her desk and handed me a flyer from her folder.
"I'm glad I decided to pick up this flyer, if you go to this link online they have a lot of different school you can apply to. If you need help figuring out what you want to go to college for I can help you with that. You're really great in Biology, maybe you can look into something in that field."
Figures.
"Thanks I'll look into that."
I left the classroom and head towards my locker, looking at the paper my professor handed me. I was looking at it, forgetting to look up to where I was walking to.
Just when I turned the corner I crashed into someone causing me to stumble black slightly, dropping the paper and my books.
"Sorry, I wasn't paying attention!" I quickly mumbled and grabbed my books and paper, but just when I was going for the paper a hand had already grabbed it.
"No it's quite alright really. I wasn't paying that much attention myself."
The voice that spoke definitely belonged to a male, but it was soft and soothing. I looked up my brownish crimson eyes contacting with bright emerald eyes. The male before me was fairly tall and lean, his long hair as red as roses he wore a purple school uniform matching slacks and a jacket with gold trim. He looked quite girly, but there was a certain masculinity by the way he held himself together... there was some sort of wild and fierce vibe about him but I couldn't pinpoint it. He was a very handsome being. I hadn't noticed he had his hand out before to help me up and he slightly chuckled. I blushed and immediately yet shyly took his hand.
I was embarrassed, I hope I wasn't staring too long. But damn, he was a good looking guy...
"You dropped this." He handed me the paper back.
"T-Thanks, sorry...sorry again. " I wanted to slapped myself for repeating myself like a babbling idiot.
"I'm Shuichi Minamino...you are?"
Shuichi Minamino?
SHUICHI MINAMINO?!
I hadn't noticed who he was until now. He was the school's pretty boy, genius, everyone fawned over him. All the girls are always talking about him guys even wanted to be him. Even my friends talk about how smart he is and how he is always topping his scores, especially Biology. His scores had always top everyone in class, even mine. I never met him or saw him since we weren't in any classes together, but I wouldn't have thought this would be him and it surprised me.
"You're the school's genius!" I blurted out.
He slightly laughed at my outburst. "Is that so?"
"Sorry I tend to speak before I think..." I blushed knocking my head. So stupid. "I'm Airi Wakaba..."
"I see you're taking an interest in Biology? I noticed the flyer and those are some really good schools on there. You should look into it, I might just look at them myself."
I looked at the flyer before looking back at him. "You think so? In all honesty, I'm not that interested in Biology. I like the subject but," I handed the paper to him, "I personally can't see myself working in that field. You have it, you probably have a better chance getting into these schools anyway. Nice meeting you."
With that I quickly went passed him before he could get another thing out as I headed to my lock and then to my next class.
