Fairy Lights and Cozy Nights

Ch. 1

"You're running away from your responsibilities, Angela!" Robert yells up the stairs of their shared townhouse.

"Why would you care? It's not like this is any different, right? I'm never reaching my full potential, or I'm running away from my responsibilities, what a shocker!" Angela screamed over her shoulder, shoving clothes into a suitcase; two others laying at her feet.

"You're making a huge mistake, Angela." Robert ignores her previous comments to rephrase his own. "So after all we've been through, you're just going to throw it all away. Where are you even going?" He asked, standing in the doorway, blocking it.

"I'm not happy anymore. I don't want to be in this relationship anymore, I don't want to be in this town anymore, I don't want to be in this fucking house anymore!" Angela snapped, slamming the suitcase lid closed and violently tugging at the zipper to close it.

"I am sick of all the fighting, and you want kids and I don't and after this miscarriage I've had, I'm done. I'm just. Done." Angela summed up, pulling the suitcase off the bed.

"You can't just leave." Robert argued.

"Just try and stop me." Angela said lowly, glaring at her husband.

"You're not leaving." Robert growled.

"Get out of my way, Robert." Angela returned his forceful tone and shoved past him, her suitcase assisting in her escape.

Angela made it out to her car and all suitcases loaded before Robert came outside.

"I said, you're not leaving, Angela!" Robert shouted, grabbing her slim elbow and yanking her towards him.

"Let go of me Robert!" She shouts, shoving him with her free hand and trying to break his hold on her captive arm. She almost got away; but he pulled her closer and delivered a harsh slap to her cheek, then threw her to the pavement.

"If you walk away, you're not coming back." Robert said lowly, standing over her.

Pulling herself up from the pavement, she glared up him. "Don't worry, I won't." Angela snarled through her bloodied lip.
