It was cold, November morning in New York City. The sky was covered in dark, thick clouds, and the streets were full of people going to work, either by car or on foot.
Credence Barebone was tidying his small room, his bed already made with thin grey sheets. He then proceed to get dressed, with his white button-up shirt, black tie and equally dark suit. He brushed his short, bowl-cut hair and tried smiling in front of the mirror, despite the pain in his back.
"Credence, Modesty, Chastity!" Mary Lou Barebone shouted from the bottom of the stairs. There was a sound of fast footsteps and in no time, the three were in front of their adoptive mother.
The woman wasn't alone: by her side, there was a young man no older than 25. His hair was dark brown and curly, and when he looked up, he greeted them with the bluest eyes they had ever had the pleasure to see. Those magical eyes were partially hidden by rounded glasses. He wore a shy smile, with his cheeks red from the cold.
Chastity was the first one to speak, eyeing the stranger with curiosity.
"Who is this, mother?"
"This is Mr. Theodore Drilovsky, who has gladly accepted to be Credence's professor", she explained, turning to look at his son "you need to learn so that you will be able to improve the effect the NSPS has on people"
Credence didn't say anything, his brown eyes fixed in the new man, who cleared his throat and took a step forward.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Misses and Mr. Barebone", he talked in a deep, pure voice. He politely shook the girls' hands, and then moved to greet Credence the same way. The younger boy flinched but shook his hand anyway. If they both felt a spark, they ignored it.
"P-Pleasure to meet you, Professor Drilovsky", he managed to choke out.
Mr. Drilovsky grabbed his brown suitcase, waiting for Mrs. Barebone to tell him what to do.
"Credence, can you please show him to our guest room?" she asked in a sweet tone. Credence knew better: it was an order.
He nodded, and guided the man through the house, until they got to the guest room, right in front of his own bedroom. None of them said anything, that is, until the brown-haired man spoke again.
"I'm looking forward to teaching you, Mr. Barebone", his plump lips curved into a gentle smile. Credence didn't look up from the so interesting spot between his black shoes. With a simple nod of his head, which the Professor took as a goodbye, the young man was gone.
~~
Theodore Drilovsky entered the room and instantly relaxed. Everything had gone alright, even better than expected. He took his wand out and, with a swift movement, his suitcase was open and all the belongings he had brought with him were unpacked. He sighed again, brushing his hand through his dark locks. He was tempted to take of his sweater, but the cold air reminded him that he was not in Irland anymore. He made a mental list of what he should do the following day, like helping around the house and what he should teach Credence.
Credence.
Something was off with that boy, Theodore could see that. The way he wouldn't meet his eyes, how he would flinch every time someone got too close, how he wouldn't talk. The man promised himself he would help his new student, no matter what. Even if he had to be seen by Muggles while using magic.

Hello, little Bowtruckles!
My name is Ian, and is a pleasure for me to write for you. This is, however, my first story, set two years before the movie. I hope you all enjoyed it and I apologize if there are any grammatical mistake.
This is a Credence x OC fanfic, that will contain a gay pairing. If that is not your cup of tea, feel free to stop reading. If it is, then I invite to continue!
I'll try to update once or twice a week, depending on my inspiration.
Keep smiling, the world is yours!
Ian Wonderboy~
