My Only Exception

Chapter 8

"Sorry, nakatulog na pala ako," she apologized and looked at her watch. It was 12 MN. "Oh shit, it's late!"

"Tara na, ihahatid na kita. Hindi ko alam what time dadating si Ethan," Seff told her. "Wag mo na sya hintayin."

"Baka naman pauwi na sya? Let me call him," she said and took her phone. No one answered.

"Let's go," he said and stood up. "I'll just get my car keys."

He sent Raffy home at bumalik din agad sa bahay. He was about to go back to his room when he heard some movements inside Ethan's room. He knocked and Ethan opened the door.

"Bro? Why are you still awake?"

"Hinatid ko si Raffy sa kanila," Seff answered.

"Why? Was she here?"

Seff answered and told him she was waiting for him since that afternoon dahil may usapan sila na magkikita sa bahay that day.

"Argh! I asked my secretary to call her and tell her I couldn't make it," he said irritated. "I needed to meet a client. It was urgent and sudden."

"Bro, why did you leave the calling to your secretary? You're her boyfriend. You should have told her yourself," Seff scolded him. "Hinatid ko na. She said she has to go out of town tomorrow early morning."

"Thanks Seff," he said. "I'll just call her."

"Hi Love," she greeted him with a smile. She surprised him by going to his resto-bar that Monday night. She knew he would be busy that day but she wanted to help him.

"Love!" he exclaimed and greeted her with a kiss. "I missed you."

"Me too, Mr. Yu," she said and smiled. "I wanted to ask my guy out for some movie tonight."

"I'm sorry Love but I have to be here tonight. Someone rented the place for a birthday celebration and I have to make sure that it would turn out fine," he apologized and hugged her. "But maybe you can stay here with me. At least magkasama tayo."

She forced a smile. "I guess that would be better kesa naman sa umuwi na lang ako."

"I am so sorry. Alam mo naman how busy lately I've been but I promise you, babawi ako sayo."

"Just make sure you will."

Days went on and on. Habang tumatagal, he was becoming busier with work. It was definitely successful which caused him to be more focused in improving it.

A year after the restaurant was established, Ethan started looking for a lot that he can buy to build his home. He spent hours looking for one until he got a good deal with an owner. It was located in Makati which was very favorable for him. He started paying for the lot thru another housing loan. He hasn't told anyone about it since he wanted it to be fully furnished before he would show it to his family. At least, he could start preparing for their wedding after another year.

At the same time, their graduation was getting near. They were all thinking and planning what to do after the graduation while Ethan was planning what to do with the reservations made on the place for the graduations coming up.

She on the other hand was thinking of the celebration they would have for their anniversary. They started being official near graduation day and it happened to be their second anniversary. She asked for Seff's help to which he agreed.
