INT - NARRATOR (OLDER SHANE)- SHANE IN THE HALLS OF A HIGH SCHOOL- MID MORNING BOOK IN HAND READING WHILE WALKING.
Gabby was one of those confused girls, the kind that is born one
way and just won't accept it. She was undeniably white, yet she
dressed and acted as though her hair was nappy and her lips were
fuller than they were. She wasn't much to look at, but sure had a lot
to say.
Shane and Gabby were friends, more like good
acquaintances. He would hear her talk about her talent when it came
to men. She explained to her friends how all men were the same "
losers, and she knew exactly how to wrap them around her finger. She
would first find a candidate, use her sexuality to seduce him, and
then have him fall for her. She would take advantage of his emotional
stupor and have him buy her any and everything she wanted.
Shane heard her brag one too many times, and then took
this as a personal challenge. He would manipulate the female version
of himself and prove who the superior sex was after all. He was
walking down the hall one morning with his nose in a chemistry book
(this should have been her first clue something was up, not only did
he never do homework, but he didn't take chemistry).

INT- BY THE LOCKERS - DAY
SHANE H.(18) IS READING AND WALKING TOWARDS GABBY NOT PAYING ATTENTION IN THE SCHOOL HALLWAY.
GABBY
What the fuck Shane? Watch where you're going.
Shane
Sorry. I've just been under a lot of stress lately.
Hey, why haven't we hung out in a while?
GABBY
Because you're a dick.
SHANE
I'm sorry; I've just been out of it lately. I... I
don't know Gabby.
GABBY
(She looked at him and thought she saw a tear trickle out of the corner of his eye)
Yo, tell me, what's wrong?
SHANE
I don't want to talk about it here. Do you have plans
for dinner tonight?
GABBY
No...
SHANE
Okay, I'll call you.
(He gave her a feeble half smile until he walked past her, and then grinned to himself as the gears in his mind turned.)
*(Gabby watched him walk away wondering what was going on...)*
EXT- BACK PORCH GABBYS HOUSE/ PHONE CONVERSATION - NIGHT - NARRATOR (OLDER SHANE)
At seven-thirty Gabby found herself staring at her phone
wondering why Shane hadn't called yet. Her stomach was grumbling, but
she dare not eat; he did say he'd take her out to dinner after all.
She never waited around on guys like this and it made her feel rather
uncomfortable. Her phone finally rang and she answered it on the
first ring. She wished she'd waited a few more seconds, but couldn't
fix that now.
