Prologue

"Scarlet, you stay here, ok? Whatever happens. Whatever you hear don't get out of this closet. Do you understand?"

I just nodded as what my mother told me.

I don't know what's happening.
I just woke up when I heard my mother enter my room and just dragged me inside the closet. She looks terrified. I don't understand why. I knew we have lots of guards and bodyguards outside. I don't understand why my mother is so aggitated. I was in the middle of my thoughts when I heard lots of gunshots and screams outside. I looked at my mother with scared face.

"Mom, what's going on?"

"Scarlet, we are underattacked. I can't explain now. Just please stay here." And then she closed the closet and went out of my room.

What's the hell is happening?! Mom, where are you?

I can take it anymore. Waiting inside the closet is like eternity. With so much curiousity and being worried for my mom, I defy her order and went outside the closet to look for her.

I'm still in my pajamas as I creeped downstairs. The gunshots and screams are not fading. It's all over the place. As I arrived at the living area, I peek over the window and I saw some of our guards lying on the ground. Some are running and firing on someone... or something who's jumping... flying? above them.

What the? What's that?

Blood are everywhere. I'm scared. And then I heard a scream on the kitchen. I went there and open the kitchen door slowly, peeking who's inside. I saw someone. I hide as fast as I can under the kitchen counter but I can still see my nanny screaming. The man is choaking her. And then I heard him speak.

"Where's Amanda?"

He is looking for my mother. Why?

My nanny spoke in difficulty, "I- I don't know."

And right there I saw how the man bite the neck of my nanny and looks like he's kissing her... sipping on it. I cover my mouth for what I saw as I felt my tears fall from my eyes. After sipping or sucking on my nanny's neck, she threw her on the floor, lifeless.

I gasped in horror.

Then I saw my mother enter. She's so angry when she saw my nanny on the floor. My mother's face looks different, fierce and loathness in her eyes. She attacked the man with a knife? What is that? a dagger? I can't believe what I'm seeing. My mother can fight. She's good and strong. And with one swift motion she killed the man. She saw me and pulled me out the kitchen counter.

"Why do you went out of the closet?" Asking me angrily.

"I... I..." I can't speak. I don't know what to say. I'm still shocked for what I've witnessed.

She pulled me and we ran. She open a wall. I'm amazed that we have this kind of secret door. Like a panic room. It's not that big, but it has lots of different monitors. In that monitor I can see what's happening all over the mansion.

Oh my... we were overrun by this intruders.

I looked up in my mom and I saw her talking to someone on the phone. I can't understand what they're talking about. Different language to my knowledge. She then looked at me as she finished talking on the phone. She is panicking and terrified. It's visible in her eyes.

"Scarlet, listen. I know this is a shocked for you. I don't have time to explain it all to you. As you can see we are under attacked. I don't know how long we can hold it. But help is coming on our way. I will try to hold them. You, don't get out of this place." Tumalikod na siya sa akin at hahakbang na palayo.

"Mom..." I called. I can sense that my voice is trembling.

"Scarlet, I knew you're scared. I am too. They don't know anything about you. And it should stay that way. So please, Honey, don't go outside. Whatever you will see. Don't!" She used that dominating and bossy voice at me. She's serious.

I just nod.

"I won't let them see you and hurt you." She touched my cheek.

Tears rolled down and she hugged me. I hugged her back.

"You're still young. I didn't know that in this age you will found out this strange things. Someday I will explain it to you... if I can't, someone will come and tell you the story of our family." She kissed me on my cheeks and hugged me so tight.

I'm scared what my mother's saying. She's like saying goodbye and not coming back.

"I love you, Scarlet." Then she walked out the room. I can see her on one of the monitor. I saw her talking... saying something.... or like chanting. And then she walked away.

I follow her by looking at all the monitors. Everywhere, I see dead bodies.

"Where are you, Mom?" My voice is trembling as I scan the monitors and then I saw her. She's fighting with the remaining guards. But I gasped when I saw someone jumped over her and wounded her with his hands. My mother lied on the ground when the man pulled her up and hold tightly her arms on the back. My mother is in pain.

"We meet again, Amanda." I heard from the screen when a man spoke. And I saw another man walked towards my mother. This one is different from the others. He walks with power.

"Vladimir." My mother spoke. She knew him.

"Where is he, Amanda?"

"I don't know. And I won't tell you even If I know. You're a traitor! You deceived us all!" Said my mother bravely.

"Hmmm... I won't argue with that, Love. I want much more power. Well... you're really are brave and special, Amanda. That's why I fell for you. But you choose him over me. And even in your upcoming death you still choose and protect him."

"From the very start, Vladimir, you knew that it will always be him."

"My, My Amanda... If you only choose me, you will not be here... in life and death situation." He smirked. "But eventhough I loved you, I will savor every last drop of your blood. You will now face the consequence of denying me and choosing him, my Amanda."

And then I saw the man eyes named Vladimir turns red and bares his fangs. In a flash of second his now beside my mother and bit her neck and sucking the blood from her body.
