There was a little house in the middle of the ocean. The town had been flooded almost a hundred years ago. No one had tried to explore it though, it was completely covered by water, on the bottom of the ocean where those fish that glow lived.
But Hailey wanted to change that, she wanted to be the first person to go down there. She planned on staying there for half the day, then go back to her boat and sleep. Then repeat it for a few days.
Her friend, Emma, was coming along with her. Just in case something happened to her.
They were in a medium sized boat and Hailey was leaning over the edge, staring down into the blurry water. Emma had just sopped the boat, and they were over the town. Well, floating over it. Neither of them could see anything manmade, they were too far from it.
It was midnight but Hailey jumped up and started to put some goggles on. She didn't need any air for this, she had once stayed down on the bottom of a pool for six hours. People thought she died when she did that. The only reason she came out was because someone called an ambulance because they thought she had drowned.
"You're going now?" Asked Emma. Hailey nodded and before she could say anything, she dove into the water and swam until she had found the roof of a building. She grinned.
As she went deeper, she saw more fish with all types of colorful lights. She accidentally ran into an electric eel, but it quickly darted away. Then she found the edge of a house, and decided to use that to pull herself down. She was upside down, looking through an open door. She saw a chair and a few random books, and she entered the house still upside down. The air in her was pulling her up, but she just sat down on the ceiling looking down at everything. Or, in her eyes, up. Her blonde hair was floating behind her like she was some sort of jellyfish.
She was tired and wanted to go to sleep, so she quickly looked around for something to show her friend. She spotted a rusted shut metal box, to her that was treasure. Her eyes lit up and she reached up and grabbed it.
As she was about to leave, she ran into another girl. But she was only a little kid, about 12. Her hair was gray, floating around her face. Her hair seemed about shoulder length.
Her eyes were lonely and blue, like a lake. Her shin was as pale as paper and she was wearing a ripped blue dress that went down to her knees. She was skinny and tall.
When they hit each other, Hailey felt her skin. it was as cold as ice.
The little girl looked at her startled, then somehow breathed in and let out a scream, bit since it was underwater, it only make a gurgling sound. She looked completely terrified. Then the girl rushed out and zipped up as fast as she could to the surface.
Hailey clenched the metal box in one hand, then followed the girl. She went up to the surface and looked around.
Emma was in the boat chilling out taking pictures of fish then Hailey came up. She nearly screamed and threw her camera out into the ocean. But good thing she had put it in a waterproof case and had it tied to her arm.
"Shit!" She yelled. Hailey ignored her and flipped around, looking in all directions for the little girl, when she didn't find her, she threw the box at Emma and dived down.
After a few minutes, she went back up to the surface again. Emma was staring with wide eyes at something. Hailey turned to where she was looking, and saw the girl. She was laying down somehow on the surface of the water as if it was solid.
"A ghost!" She whispered. Hailey slowly went up to the girl and laid her hand on her back. She looked up and screamed again. But this time they could hear it.
She was completely terrified, and dissolved into the water. Hailey stars with wide eyes. Then after a second, she saw her a few feet down on the water. Was she a ghost? Or a mermaid?
