(Quick A/N before we start: these chapters will be short, but I will be making a lot of them to make up for content. Thank you, and enjoy! :D)

I sat in the back of the classroom, slowly drifting in and out of consciousness. I spent all night last night playing games with Sean. I'd say I regret it, but it was too much fun to hear his voice and to laugh with him. Ever since he came out here to live in LA with his girlfriend Signe, we had gotten so much closer. He was probably my best friend.

"Y/N?" A voice called my name, snapping me out of my thoughts and back into reality. I looked around at all the other college students, and noticed they were looking at me. Some snickered, and others turned to talk to each other. I looked up at the front of the classroom to see the professor tapping his foot. He raised his eyebrows and cleared his throat, waiting for an answer. I looked at the board and recognized nothing I saw. Something about connotation in literary texts? I shrugged my shoulders. I didn't know anything that was going on. I could only think of Sean. The professor then rolled his eyes and sighed heavily, before going back to the presentation. My phone vibrated quickly and I took a quick look at it.

New message from: Markimoo

'Hey Y/N, wanna meet Amy and I for coffee later? It's on me :)'

'Absolutely! You're gonna need to wait until this shit class ends though. I should be out in about 30 mins?'

'Sounds like a plan! See ya then.'

I put my phone back in my purse and attempted to pay attention to the rest of the lesson. But the harder I tried to concentrate, the sleepier I got. I closed my eyes for just a moment, and when I opened them again, the classroom was almost empty. I quickly slipped out so I didn't get a stern talking to. It wasn't my first time getting caught asleep.

I walked off the campus and to the Starbucks in the plaza nearby. I sat down at the table I normally sit at, and opened my twitter. I noticed Jack hadn't posted anything yet, which was a little unusual, but sometimes he's late uploading if he has long nights. I guess I was to blame for today's late upload. I looked up from the table to see Mark and his girlfriend walk in.

"Hey!" I said, standing up from the table. I went to Amy and gave her a huge hug. I then hugged Mark, and sat back down.

We talked for a few minutes, catching up on life and how their relationship is going. Then suddenly, Mark turned to me, his usually bubbly and happy face, now upset. "You heard what happened this morning, right?" Mark said quietly, giving me a feeling of uncertainty.

"No, what happened?" I asked, concerned.

"Early this morning, Signe broke up with Sean. He's so devastated."

"Oh no." I said, my hand covering my mouth that had opened in shock. I didn't personally know Signe, but I knew how much Sean loved her. He was planning to propose to her on her birthday this year. He would go on and on for hours about how much he cared about her. I couldn't imagine the state he was in. Maybe that's why there was no upload yet.

"Yeah," Mark continued. "He didn't tell me much, but just that she had done it and that he was really, really upset about it. I don't know how he's holding up. I was going to check on him, but Amy and I have plans. You wouldn't mind checking up on him, would you?"

"Not at all. I can definitely go." I said nodding, hoping that he was okay.
