- Lauren's P.O.V. -
Tonight was my first game as one of the new team photographers the Chicago Blackhawks hired over the summer. I had been dreaming my whole life for this opportunity, and I finally clinched a spot on the best team ever.
Fresh out of the University of Chicago, I felt pretty good. A photographer's position was not really what I was looking for considering I majored in marketing and media studies, but I was not complaining one bit.
I sorted through my jerseys, and debated whether I should wear my Hossa or Kane jersey for tonight. I went with my white Kane jersey, blue skinny jeans, and boots. I put my long brown hair up in a ponytail, got my camera and keys and left.
Trying to find a parking space at the United Center was hell. Luckily for me, I got to park in the back with the rest of the staff as oppose to the fan lot.
Just as I stepped out of my car, a car pulled into the lot, parking in two parking spaces.
"Wow, what an idiot. Who is that anyways? He must feel importa-"
Before I could finish, Patrick Kane stepped out of the car, running his hand through his hair while fishing for his bag in the back seat. Considering I was wearing his jersey, I felt like a jerk. But damn, he was definitely hotter in person.
He had his bag slung over his shoulder and his phone up to his ear, sounding like an argument. He hung up and tossed the phone in his bag, then proceeded to walk into the U.C.
I shortly followed, making my way to the locker room for detail shots, such as the skates, helmets, jerseys, etc. After I was done taking pictures of Toews's helmet, I walked over to Kane's space in the locker room. Before I raised my lens, I stood there and admired the locker room. It was so spacious. It felt surreal being there.
Then, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I spun around nervously, to find Patrick Kane towering above me. I stood there in awe and silence, gazing into his beautiful bright blue eyes.
"Hey, that's a nice jersey you have on. Who is it?" His smirk turned into a smile, and I couldn't help but laugh.
"No clue, actually. Do you know?"
"I do know him, but I don't know you." he sits down with his bag and siffs through it. "You replacing Chase this year?" He points at my camera.
"I'm Lauren. And actually yeah, I just started today. Still trying to find my way around actually."
"Well Lauren, what are you looking for?"
"The digital content office? Specifically looking for Adam Kempenaar." I look down at my notes, making sure I pronounced that right.
"Oh Adam's office? It's kind of hidden away, do you want me to walk with you?"
"That would be great actually."
Patrick and I arrive to Adam's office, and he was definitely right. I wouldn't have been able to find this place if my life depended on it.
"He's pretty cool. Just talk about Star Wars and you'll probably get promoted."
"Well that's weird," I laugh. "Good luck tonight!"
"I'll see you around, Lauren." As he passed me in the cramped corridor, he gently placed his hand on my lower back, sending chills through my spine. Alright Lauren, relax, you think to yourself. You don't have time for games with boys.
