The Shell

Shells are unique.

Just as people are.

They are unique like each individual's kiss on a cheek.

People are unique but we must learn to accept others, to go far.

I am picking up these beautiful shells that are close to perfection.

I look at these shells to see that each shell is similar.

I drop them all on the ground.

I watch as they all get pulled into the water.

I pick up a broken shell.

All the pieces, and I bring them home.

My family stares at me for bringing a broken shell home.

I was planning to try and fix the shell.

I thought of the shell as myself.

I feel broken and I see other people that are close to perfection being picked.

I picked it up because I want to be accepted.

If I was this shell I would feel terrible for being broken.

But if someone choose me, the broken shell...

I would feel blessed and appreciated.

But I turn away from my family and walk out the door.

I go back to the beach and sit the shell in the water all together.

I watch the pieces drift away.

Then another shell under that is broken appears.

They create an almost whole shell.

No shell is perfection but when you find your other half.

Make a whole.

And hold on tight because the waves are strong.

But your bond is stronger.
