Calm the rage in your veins
As it thunders through your brain
I’ve held you in my arms
As you bled onto the carpet floor
Your blood-soaked tears releasing
Like a dam’s last attempt to restrain itself
I’ve felt every iota of the pain that you’ve felt
Sat there as you wrung out the worst possible experiences
In some way, you reflect me
You have become my mirror, my shadow
But a shadow that I’ve begun to understand
I suppose love is all you need while dealing with
Such interminable rage
Hate fuels it, love plunges its scalding skin
Under freezing water
The pins and needles once felt,
Will calm as your skin turns pale once again
I’ll hold you as you shiver and writhe
I suppose it was my duty that I shirked
By using my disdain as an excuse
But after all, that running
My sweet darling,
All this was, was fear
Fear that you’ll run riot the way you used to
That you’ll destroy my sanity with the serrated blade
I once used to severe our bond
Trust never comes easy,
It’s a luxury, I rarely allow myself
But I’ll take that leap of faith now
As I’ve reached the edge of this polarity
The pendulum swung and swung
Relentless in its race against time
Not realising that it was Time’s accomplice instead
A physical manifestation of its speed and mastery
That’s what our relationship has become
Or maybe what it’s always been
My race to run away from you
But ending up right in your arms in the end
So, let’s not run anymore
Let’s not deface each other or ourselves
Maybe love is the answer after all
Lets combine forces and dance in the rain
No more division
No more pain
Wipe the blood off the wall
Release the demons from the vault
Clean out the cobwebs with a swift hand
No more prisoners or torture
No staccato beats haunting our every hour
Loneliness can bid us adieu
Because I’ve finally found you
Melt the silver weapons
And drown the guns in the river
No more wars shall wither the branches of our willow
I’ll throw away the mighty sword
Discard the poison from its bottles
Banish the hate that has insidiously entered my home
As I welcome you back with open arms
Silence the mindless chatter of gossip
That seek to throw you into exile once again
I shall not part with you, my heart
Once is all I can take
Climb these mountains with sure footing
Cause an enemy you are no more
A brother, a sister, a friend, an ally
Are titles I’ll bestow you, with henceforth
Crown the mighty lion and slay the cunning fox
It has outlived its reign and its shall never rule again
Heart and soul beat and flow as one
A symphony of high crescendo
Shining like a beacon in the desert night
To walk through heaven
One must endure hell
And we have, dear friend in the worst possible way
Seize the collision and sync with the harmony
The rising sun and waning moon
The high tide and the fast winds
Cross the ocean with me now
Set sail and glide to paradise on a white winged horse
Shatter the illusions that swim like sirens luring their prey
You and I are one now
I need not utter a single sound after these words have been spoken
All I’ll do is sit with you and bask in our silence once again like old friends.
