Insufficient

That night it got too much to bear,

You were sick of the bullies at daycare.

You ran to your room, sobbing in despair,

"No one loves me, " you thought , "no one will ever care. "

That's when daddy came in, sat besides you on a chair.

He held your hand and told you , "I care. "

He told you how each soul will, one day, repair.

And how it broke his heart to see you in despair.

He tucked you in with a goodnight kiss,

Not knowing how, after that night, you'll be missed.

For the next morning he found your body hanging ,

From the fan on your room's grey ceiling .

He could feel his heart shattering,

"This can't happen.", he kept muttering .

He loved you more than anything,

You're the only song his soul would sing .

All the things he did for you were beyond compare,

Yet he was left with a note that felt like a nightmare.

Was his love insufficient for you to fare?

For , "No one loves me, " it read,  "no one will ever care. "
