Rain woke up with a blistering headache. It was like a sumo-wrestler elbowing her in the face.

She considered asking her dad to let her stay home from school.

She would never survive her day with a migraine like this.

But, of course. Rain's dad said 'no, get over it. I'm sure you've had a worse headache before.'

This time, it was truly different.

She sighed, and stalked back to her room.

Rain settled with a loose galaxy sweatshirt with some black leggings and some black combat boots, then she put her hair into double braids.

She stalked back out of her room, and down the stairs to make a bowl of oatmeal with a spoonful of peanut butter. After she made her breakfast, she popped four Aspirins in her mouth, and took a few gulps of water and hoped they'd do something.

Rain ate her oatmeal in utter silence, coldly staring at her dad, who was munching on a cheese bagel.

"What?" He asked.

Rain said nothing.

"What? You're mad I didn't let you stay home from school today?" He guessed.

Rain was still silent.

Her dad rolled his eyes, shoved the rest of his cheese bagel in his mouth, picked up his coffee and his keys and left the kitchen.

Rain rolled her eyes in response once he had left.
