Twin birthday

Cinder

The next day I got out of bed and went downstairs I wasn’t usually the first one up. My sister followed me close.

“Happy birthday, Cinder and Cindy!” My mom and dad said in sync. I stood there stunned. All of my life I had no idea what a birthday was. I was still clueless, I started crying.

“Cinder, why are you crying?” My mom asked coming over to see me.

“Today is special to me but my whole life I have never celebrated my birthday ever. We have always skipped my birthday.” I said putting my head in my hands and crying harder.

“Oh Cinder its ok when you ran away you were only 3 years old. The picture you saw of you and Cindy it was the day that you left we took that morning.” My mom said getting out the old picture book and then handed it to me.

          I flipped through it.

“So we were really close before I ran away?” I asked my mom. She nodded.

“Then why did I run away in the first place?” I asked puzzled.

“Well Cinder that we didn’t really knew. You didn’t talk yet.” My mom said frowning. I nodded and kept looking through the picture book. Then I stopped at a page and gasped.

“Mom, who is this?” I asked her. There were 2 girls back to back which I realized was me and Cindy but there were also 2 boys in the picture too.

“That is Mingan and his brother.” My mom said smiling then frowned.

“How come I have never heard of that other boy before?” I asked confused.

“Um… Cinder that’s because Mingan’s brother moved.” My mom said looking down at her feet.

“Mom I told Cinder about Mingan’s 2 other siblings that moved away so she knows about this.” Cindy said sadly.

My mom nodded.

“Ok Cinder here is the complete truth. The other boy in the picture is Mingan’s long lost brother his name is Mink. His brother had an identical twin sister her name was Mint. Those 2 kids went everywhere together Mingan was always left out at home. He left because finally he couldn’t take the ignorance anymore.” My mom said pausing to take a drink of her water.

“Wait couldn’t he just go and play with his parents?” I asked her.

She shook her head.

“Here’s why Cinder because, he was the oldest so they were always watching Mint and Mink all of the time. That’s before Mingan’s dad hit him.” My mom said getting a cup of tea from the kettle. I didn’t know she liked tea I wonder what I taste like. I thought to myself.

“Cindy and Cinder would either of you want some coffee or tea?” My mom asked putting the kettle back on the stove.

“I want Coffee.” Cindy said happily.

“I’ll take coffee and then I want tea tomorrow.” I said cheering.

“Ok so back to what I was saying. Mingan was always happy when he was the only child. When his siblings were born he was ignored from day 1.” My mom said making each of us a cup of coffee and tea.

“What happened after that?” I asked her.

“He finally ran away to find the pack.” She said to me.

“That’s how he met me.” I remembered. My mom nodded and gave us each what drink we wanted.

“You actually remember the first day?” Cindy asked me.

“Yeah so what’s the big deal?” She teased.

“Oh I don’t know, you 2 have been dating for at least 2 years, and he hasn’t given you any ring.” Cindy said giggling.
