The Johnsons had recently moved in to a small cottage in a village in the forest. They had needed a break from loud cars, planes and fat old people staying up till 2am watching anime. So they headed to a quiet, remote cottage. There were four members of this family.
David.- The Father
Marie - The Mother
Harry- The son
Harvey - The baby.

They'd wanted peace and quiet from their loud neighbours and such. So the cottage was secluded. Deep in the forest, only friends knew where they were. It was perfect.

The Johnsons passed time by playing outside. Marie played with Harvey, with ropes and toys. David and Harry played football. Surprisingly, Harry was winning. But that night, tragedy struck. Their neighbours were killed.

Harvey awoke to loud banging on their door, and looked out the window. There was a tree. But, it was moving. Like a human. Breaking down the door. When the door finally gave way, he ran in. Screams pierced the midnight silence, ripping through the icy cold air. Then, it stopped. One by one. It stopped. The screams, begs, stopped. The tree walked out, and looked Harvey directly in the eyes... and smiled. Not an evil smile, not the kind of smile you give to a small old lady when you see them, just a dead smile. Harvey cried.

Harvey tried to explain what happened to his mom, Marie. But it was hard since he had such limited vocabulary. And because of his age, Marie brushed it off as wild imagination. Harvey wouldn't go outside, and if he did, he'd cry at the trees. He thought how the family could be so oblivious that the tree was hiding in plain sight, scouting out his prey, preparting for the kill.

That night, everything happened. After Harvey was put back to bed, the door made a loud thud sound. Over and over. David opened up and there was the tree. He ran back in to the living room. Where the tree said:
"We give you air, so you kill us, make houses out of us, and... burn us?!"

David ran in to the kitchen and grabbed the axe, then ran back in and swung whilst Marie ushered Harry away. David swung and swung, missing every time. Until he swung, and the tree caught the axe. David let go, shocked and backing up.

The tree threw the axe through the window and send two branches down David's throat. Sucking out the air. David slowly and painfully suffocated. The tree picked him up and ate him whole. Then the tree headed for Harry, but Marie got in front of him, lunging herself at the tree. The tree caught her and shoved two branches down her throat. She also suffocated.

Harry hid under a blanket, screaming and crying, begging for mercy. The tree picked him up, and then put him down. The tree walked away!

Then it turned around lunging two branches down Harry's throat, sucking air from his lungs. Like the tree did to his parents. The tree then walked upstairs and looked at Harvey...

He poked Harvey until he woke up (which wasn't long) and smiled at him, this time an evil, dangerous smile. And the tree walked off.

Harvey grew up to be a lumberjack, hunting for the tree that killed his family. He wanted to avenge them. They were innocent. He was determined, even if it was the last thing he did...

A/N: This story has been sitting in my concience for a while, I just decided to write it. It was actually made for my homework once. Thanks for reading! :)
