Since my birthday, I had managed to avoid Ben but I knew eventually he would find me and start talking about Lorcan and I. This happened on the Monday after our meeting with the vampires. Lorcan and I were walking through the corridors towards our werewolf History classroom when he and his friends walked behind us and spoke really loud; obviously trying to get out attention, “So how long do you think they’re going to last?”
“Who?” one of Ben’s friends, Max, asked.
“Lorcan and Dulce, I mean it’s obvious that she’s a slut and he’s not really her type.” The two of us tensed. Saying something like that in front of both of us was not his best choice. I turned around and glared at him. He just smirked, “Well, look who it is. I didn’t see you there.”
“Of course you did. You’re an ass who likes to annoy me because you don’t like the fact that I won’t go out with you, ever.”
“Whatever.” He turned to Lorcan, “Watch out, Lorcan. Don’t get that bitch angry or you’ll regret it.” I growled and he smirked, “See?”
“I would watch out if I were you, Ben.”
He laughed, “Why? What’s she gonna do to-” He never got to finish his sentence. I can’t really remember what happened but one second he was standing in front of us, with his friends and that damn, annoying smirk on his face, and the next he was a few metres away, on the floor, holding his nose which was now gushing with blood. People around us stopped in shock but I just stared at my fist, which now had a little blood on it; not my own blood, but Ben’s. Had I really just done that? Everyone was stock still and silent.
The first person to react was Lorcan. And what did he do? He didn’t pull me away from the scene or see if either Ben or I were okay; he laughed. In almost perfect synchronisation, everyone turned to look at him; some appalled, some confused and some a little angry, “I told you, Ben. You really should listen to people more often.” a ghost of a smile appeared on my face. Of course, he would say something like that. That was my Lorcan, for you. A lot of the werewolves around us and a few of the humans chuckled too. I’m sure a lot of people would’ve liked to do what I had just done; especially the girls.
Ben’s friends helped him up quickly and walked off towards the nurse’s office, sending both of us deathly glares. I smiled up at Lorcan as we turned back around and he wrapped an arm around my shoulder, “Thanks.” I whispered, leaning closer into him.
“No, thank you. You should’ve done something like that years ago.” I giggled as we arrived at our classroom, “You never cease to amaze me, Dulce Freestone.” I smiled remembering that night at Grayson’s party. A lot had changed since then and it was only a few weeks ago.
