~Dangerous Premonitions~
I stood in front of the frame; I was hesitant, but I knew she would be able to shed some light on all that was happening. I took a breath and opened my eyes before softly calling out her name, "Rose?"
It was a moment of utter silence, the night air seemed to still, whatever creatures that inhabited the woods of my estate also quieted and then I felt a presence behind me, "You called?"
I turn to see Rose, though she appeared different this time, pants instead of a skirt along with a waistcoat covered her frame, her hair was shorter as well but her eyes were the same, her eyes that told countless stories of different worlds were the same. "You came."
"Of course, what's wrong?" She came closer to look into my eyes, "Siren?"
I gave her a pitiful smile, "I never understood why I felt such comfort in your presence, but I always knew that if I needed to talk to anyone, it could be you. Why Rose? Why am I going through such trials? Why does Veronica have to be right? Why do my own suspicions need to be right? I'm scared Rose, and I hate this vulnerability. I hate that I can not be rid of this weak side of myself no matter how deep i bury it!" I crumble then, my legs fail me as I fall before her feet.
"I thought you were better than this Siren..." I look up and meet her cold stare, "You have overcome so much and this is what you allow to undo you? I may not have all the answers Siren but I can say that this is far from over. Stop wallowing in your own self pity and do something about it!"
"What am I supposed to do!?" I shout, her eyes narrow.
"Siren, I am an author, my job is to tell the story not participate in it, I can only write what happens. You are in charge of how you proceed. You have been abused and beaten, you grew powerful, you fell in love, what is so bad about any of that? You have let people into your life and now you want to throw all of that away?"
"No..."
"Then what are you going to do?"
I meet her gaze and my resolve solidifies. A cruel smile gracing my features, "Survive." I stand and face her, "I have suffered and I have overcome, Veronica may be right that my powers are still a bit uncontrollable but I have no reason to fear, besides" I smirk, "There is no telling what the future holds..."
"You are powerful Siren, and doubt may cloud your mind but find strength inside and you shall triumph. I may not be able to see into the future but from what I have seen, Ciel is just stoic and unable to express emotions well. He has grown to use manipulation almost subconsciously, keep that in mind Siren. I can feel trouble brewing, be aware..."
"Thank you," I call to her as she leaves, I see a glimpse of a smile before I'm alone again. Rose always seemed to know, but I do need to be more aware. My powers are growing and I need to be able to handle them.
It has been quiet. There has been no news of a case that the men of scotland yard couldn't handle and the queen has taken to letting her guard dog rest for now. Rose is right though, trouble is brewing...I can feel it.
