All Us Kids

I used to think life
Was something we all had
To experience the days
The good and the bad.

But now that I'm older
And taller and wiser
I see that life
Is not that much brighter.

The moon is still silver
And the sun is still bright
But the worries in my heart
Still make my chest tight.

The shivering fingers
And the sweaty palms
They are a sign
That I cannot remain calm.

I used to think
Life was so easy
Skipping through it
Like a little white daisy.

Now that I'm older
And weaker and thinner
I can see that all us kids
Are nothing but sinners.
