Chapter one

I stood the there looking at my reflection in the mirror, I had just got out of bed. I was still in my T-shirt and flannel pants that I wore. My blonde hair still messed up; the dark circles under my Aquamarine colored eyes becoming more visible. No, I had not been sleeping very well; the previous nights are not nights that I look back on fondly. I didn't do this on purpose, I didn't think that you could do such things on purpose; no I didn't think having night mares was something you did on purpose. I bet normal people have night mares, yes they definitely did.

My friend Eliza; the very best friend anyone could ask for had told me of that, but not every night. I had informed my mom about the nightmares, and just like any good mom would do in a situation where their daughter was stressed, would help me get through it. I remember telling her about one dream in particular. I remember her saying that it was interesting but, then moving on to a question that she believed would help me. "What do you think this dream is trying to tell you? The people in it, who do they represent?" It was a question that I was still trying to find the answer to. Even today I was still puzzling over it. "You might want to work on finding that out, it could help you a lot."

I was still in front of the mirror in the bathroom when I was jolted out of my vision from the past. "It's time to eat Lissa!" My little sister Isabelle said, poking her head into the bathroom smiling. Isabelle was already dressed in one of her favorite outfits, which is simple, jeans and a T-shirt. My sister, like other normal human beings liked the comfortable style. My sister had blonde hair just like me though; there were streaks of purple in it which complimented her eyes. Her eyes were a dark blue color almost like Sapphires. My sister had gotten my dad's side of the gene pool, no my dad's eyes weren't Sapphire Blue but his sisters were. "Okay," I said picking up the brush that lay there on the counter, "Be there in a minute." I brushed through my hair untangling the knots that had been residing there overnight. That done I turned to go but not before taking one last look at my reflection.

The aroma in the kitchen smelled wonderful and I instantly knew what my Mother had put together: Bacon, hash browns, eggs and pancakes.

"Good morning Alyssa, how did you sleep?" My mother inquired as she put the sustenance on the table. "As well as I could mom." I said. My father who was over on the couch reading the news paper; (he was that kind of guy reading the news paper thought I was pretty sure no one did that any more. Come on dad it's the twenty-first century get with it. Now a day, if people wanted to know what was going on in the world they would just flip on the T-V.) Looked up and offered his opinion. "Honey have you ever tried counting Sheep?" I turned to look at him, a vague expression playing across my face. I had never thought of that to be truthful, and now that my dad had brought it up seemed like a silly idea. But I was willing to try anything. "Do you really think that would work?" I said the expression still clear on my face. "Maybe, and hey if it doesn't no harm done right." That made me cheer up, a smile was spreading across my face. "You're right." I agreed. My dad smiled back, giving me confidence that everything would be all right. "Well then," He said getting up from the couch and making his way over to embrace me in a warm huge, releasing me and doing the same to my sister and my little brother, Jonathan. "Let's eat I'm hungry." He gave my mom a kiss before sitting down. Before eating though; and this was kind of a thing in the Kimberly household that each of us said our own little thanks before digging in. I laced my fingers together and silently said thanks in my mind and adding that maybe, hopefully my nightmares would begin to subside.
