Fallin' For Her

Chapter 26.

Alexa's POV
I got to leave the hospital the next morning which I am grateful for because I didn't sleep comfortably on those beds and I was wrecked. Mom signed me out and we walked out to the car. Ali was leaning against the car on her phone. I ran up to her and kissed her cheek. She screamed and pulled me into a hug. She plastered kisses all over my face while mom just laughed.
"Ali I love you too but let go. I'm tired and I just want to sleep." She laughed and kissed me one more time before letting go. I got into the back and buckled in. Mom drove and Ali was in the front seat on her phone. I looked out the window and watched the shops zoom past. I saw mom looking at me through the mirror and I looked at her. I smiled at her and she smiled at me too. After a few more minutes we pulled in the driveway. Dad's car was there along Ash's. I got out of the car and took a deep breath. Mom walked in the house and Ali followed but I stayed outside the door. I sat on the steps and looked at the scars on my arm. I took a shaky breath and closed my eyes right. I got up off the step and turned and walked into someone. I looked up and saw Ash standing there. I hugged her and I felt her sigh. I looked up at her and she gave me a small smile.
"Cmon kid we're going on a walk." I didn't want to tell her I was tired so I just went with her. We walked up to our secret spot. We sat down against the tree and looked out over the town. I put my head against her shoulder and she put hers on my head and wrapped an arm around me.
"Spill."
"Spill what?"
"What's going on through your mind?"
"There's nothing."
"Kid I know when you're lying. I'm the only one who knows when you are or not."
"Fine. I was just thinking how different things are going to be from now on."
"Lex things change for the better."
"I know but I just feel like it's only going to get worse."
"Kid look here's the thing. You really scared us. I know you thought it was going to take the pain away but Lex it only caused us all pain. You are the only reason why all of us are best friends. You're the reason why we are family. Whether you like it or not we ain't going anywhere anytime soon. The same goes for you missy. Don't ever scare us like that again."
"I'm sorry Ash I really am. I didn't know I would hurt everyone that much." She pulled me into a hug. We watched the clouds for a while. I guess I fell asleep because I woke up in mom's arms around me in her bed. She was sound asleep and so was mum. I looked at the clock and saw it was 3:24 in the morning. I slowly got out of mom's grip and climbed off the bed. I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I had a horrible taste in my mouth. I walked downstairs and turned on the television. I watched some soccer games that we had recorded but eventually got tired. I got up to turn off the tv but I found a DVD box with 'Lex' written on it. I put it it and waited for it to play. It was one of my soccer games. I heard mom's voice behind the camera cheering me on. Mum was standing up and roaring at the ref for not calling a foul. I laughed because that was typical mum. I saw Dad and Car standing next to the them as well. I scored and mom dropped the camera. It went black but I still heard her screaming. She cursed and then picked up the camera again and it showed her face. She looked so different from now. She began talking.
"Well Lex you did it again. That's you 3 goal this game. I am so proud of you baby girl." I saw Car in the background.
"She's taking after me Hope. She'll never be a goalie sorry to break it to you." I laughed at her comment. Mom's face appeared again alongside Mum.
"Well Lex I gotta say you are one hell of player. We are so proud of you and can't wait to see you in years to come. Hopefully you're still playing football and kicking ass on the field, which you probably will because you're so good. I love you baby girl keep it up and you'll be on the national team before you know it." The screen went black and the DVD appeared again. I got up and put it back into its case and sat back down on the couch. I pulled out my phone and looked through social media but nothing interesting so I turned it off. I walked up the stairs to go back to bed. I stopped outside mom's door but changed my mind and walked over to the other side of the hall to my room. I opened the door and saw dad and Car asleep. I walked in and shut the door quietly. I walked over the Carli's side and shook her slightly.
"Hey Car are you awake?"
"Lex? Is that you? Are you alright?"
"Yeah I'm fine. I just couldn't sleep."
"Hop in kid and I'll wake up B so we can talk." I went under the covers next to Car. She woke up dad and he groaned and got out of bed to use the bathroom. He came out and let the light on so we could see. I moved into the middle of them and dad wrapped his arms around me.
"What's on that big head of yours?" Car asked while running her fingers through my hair. I chuckled and I could hear dad laugh too.
"I don't have a big head."
"Ah kid yes you do. You get it from your father."
"My father?" I sat up and so did Carli. I could see she instantly regretted saying that.
"Am no. Lex just forget about it okay?"
"No how can I forget about it? Mom told me she didn't know who my father was." I got out of bed and walked towards the door. I felt someone grab my arm and I turned to see dad.
"Lex just drop it okay? It's not important to wake up your mom about this at 4 am." He said.
"Not important? Jeez dad I would have though you would be on my side for this. It's important to me okay." I got out of his grip and stormed down the hall with them following behind me. I walked into mom's room and turned on the light. She groaned and mum shot up giving me a glare.
"You lied to me. Why did you lie to me?"
"Lie about what Lex?"
"That you didn't know who my father is."
"Lex Brian is your father. You literally called him dad a few hours ago."
"Not him. My biological father. You told me you didn't know who he was and Carli is telling me you do. Who is he? What's his name?"
"Lex it's too early for this. You're tired just forget about it okay?"
"No. You lied to me again. I honestly don't know why I keep leaving my guard down for you when you do nothing but hurt me. Who is he?"
"Jason Shanahan."
"WHAT? I MET MY FATHER BEFORE AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME. I seriously thought you were different but I guess I was wrong again."
"Lex listen..."
"To what? Another lie? No thank you. I'm done with you crap. Call me when your ready to actually ready to be my mother." I stormed out of the room with tears streaming down my face. Ash and Ali were standing outside the door. I brushed past them and ran down the stairs. I put on my shoes and grabbed my jacket and phone and ran out the door. I didn't know where I was walking to but I ended up at the field. Coach always left the locker room opened because Carli always liked to come take the soccer balls  and cones to go training. I walked in and grabbed them and threw on the spare cleats I keep there. I walked back out to the field and started taking shots. It helps clear my mind and leave all the anger out. I scored them all in the different corners. After my 20th kick I broke down. I fell to the ground and started crying. I pulled my legs into my chest and cried. I felt arms around me and pick me up. They pulled me into their chest and hugged me tight. I cried into their shirt. After I calmed down a bit I looked up and saw him. I jumped out of his grip and stood up and backed away from him.
"Dad...."
