I have read other works of Gwen Cole's and still continue to be very impressed with her writing style... Although, I often find myself unable to connect with her characters because they aren't relatable (at least to me), until now, that is. Sometimes simplicity is best and because the summary is so vague, I automatically had several plots already mapped out in my head, but it still kept me curious enough to peer past the well-designed cover.

In Windswept, Cole builds up the relationship between her main male and female protagonist gradually. As she reveals more and more about each of them throughout the story, the more sympathy I had for both characters throughout the mass of obstacles and complications that prevent them from being friends.

I confess to being somewhat of a romantic, but when there's obscene amounts of awkward touching and make-out sessions in anything, that's when you lose my interest. As a reader, I can overlook implications and continue on with the plot progression, but if I come across a work that is essentially porn in written form, I can't bite the hook.

My apologies, but I just don't see any appeal in reading trash.

--So, Windswept is quite the refreshing read if you're looking for a fantastic page-turner without crude scenes and language, I highly recommend this work of Cole's! It's a very sweet story that kept me scrolling down the glitchy wattpad app well into the early hours of dawn. It's suspensful and satisfying.

Throughout the series of misfortune that befalls Sam and Reid in their chaotic world of Drifters and Sliders, you might even discover yourself rooting for their relationship to blossom as much as I did. Gwen Cole's work is written proof that cursing and sensuality are not necessary components to tell a brilliant and compelling story.

If you show your support toward this author, perhaps there will be a sequel sooner than is anticipated?
