It's dark. A smell fills my nostrils leaving a burning sensation. Then as if the world slowly appears, I see a light. Within this light a field slowly appeared and bodies lay on the ground. I recognize the smell. It's blood. The smell of the metallic like liquid sends shivers down my spine. I know we're I am somehow. It's so familiar but yet so unknown.
Suddenly I'm engulfed by darkness again as I sit up quickly from the dream. I glance at the clock 4:48am. As I crash back into the comfort of my mattress I groan knowing I will never fall back asleep.
I stare at the ceiling feeling all the emotions and confusion of my dream come back down on me. I mumble to myself,"My gawd, what was that dream?grrrrrrr.....".
I sit up and pull the heavy covers that trapped me in the bed off as I stand up. I wait a couple seconds as my eyes adjust and slowly make my way to the bathroom. I turn on the light as I wince and my eyes become only slits in which I now have to navigate to the shower and turn on the water. Once my eyes stop hurting from the rush of light I peel off my shirt. The material seems to stick to me as I tug it off then easily slips out of everything else. I step into the tub as I stand under the shower head letting the shower of water hit my skin shaking my whole body into wake mode. The water steams up the bathroom as I stand there and when I feel like I had enough of the warm water I step out and wrap myself in a towel quickly. Wanting to trap the warmth around me.
As I step out of the bathroom the cold air of the room hits me as my first reaction was a immediate chill. I look around as shadows dance around and I quickly get dressed. I change into a black tank top and skinny jeans. Seems about the only thing I wear nowadays.
I sit on my bed as I watch the clock.
5:34am
The house creaks as I listen. Its groans seem loud in the split silence. I reach across my bed to a side table that is hardly made out by how dark the wood is. I grab a journal from on top as I look at the slick black cover. I run my hand along the smooth cover and the open it.
                     Journal Entry 1
Today is the day. The day my father comes home and I'm so happy. It's is my sixteenth birthday and I get to see my dad. What else can I ever asked for. My mother was the one who surprised me with this journal so I am able to hold all my memories in it and so far this is the best memory. My father....no longer able to slip from my grasp again in pouring rain. I feel safe with him and I have missed that feeling for a while now. That is all I got to say. Unless something bad happens I want the future me to remember the happy part of this memory.

That memory was great. I remember it now as I pull from my daze still trying to become fully awake. The day my father came back was the last time I was that happy, goofy, beautiful girl. Now I am something people fear. Something I fear.
The house comes alive as I hear the others wake. Others like me. Others who are a creature that is feared.
