"You're back?" Audrey took my $20 and put it in the register. She counted my change back in her head and looked at me frowning. "Is everything okay?"
"Yeah. Thanks-" I pocketed my change and shook my head for a receipt for the over priced coffee.
"We have to hang out! Seriously didn't think I'd see you anymore after graduation."
I was hoping you or anyone wouldn't. I flashed a smile and thanked her. Audrey was nice. I admired her a lot in high school.I pulled my hoodie up and held onto my duffle bag that was across my shoulders. I was home. Or at least as home as I felt I could be.
It was only temporary.
Everything was temporary."Mom?" My cellphone rang and I picked it up with a weak smile and a lump in my throat, "I'm home."
