Moments before Death

The darkness comes and gropes  at me,

The loneliness and despair they lunge at me

A streak of tear that traces my cheeks,

My eyes see you, my arms they cannot reach.

I can see your light walk away ,

I struggle to be let go, I call for you to stay

But my sins they have a strong hold on me

They won't let go, damning me to eternity.

Your light is gone, it's pitch black here,

In the tangle of my own curse, I no longer feel fear

Sweat and blood, I am but a mess of bones,

My breath is leaving me, my will exists no more.

My heart still struggles with all its might

the fool, it knows not that death is close by

A smallhope, like a flicker of light comes my way

Ah, death is but a breath away

A beautiful man, he seems like my savior

Eyes filled with compassion, he's come to free me from here,

He holds me in his arms and I feel the pain go away,

I am finally free in his embrace, I am finally home in my grave.
