The Queen's Mark had vanished overnight. All four queens of all four kingdoms, Hearts, Diamonds, Spades, and Clubs, and those of other lands, were then scorned upon by their people. If someone without the Queen's Mark could sit upon the throne, why couldn't they? They protested so much that the queens were removed from their positions, and released into their respective kingdoms to live as commoners.
Now, the weather and health of the kingdoms depended on their queen's emotions and relationship with the king. Without a queen, the weather and health of the kingdoms were fluctuating wildly. On a good day, the kingdom was bright and sunny, with slight breezes and crops growing. On bad days, the kingdom was horribly rainy and possibly flooded. Or the complete opposite, with temperatures so high ice cubes were being put into people's clothing.
All the former queens woke up to find another mark where their Queen's Mark was previously. A... King's Mark. But not of the kingdoms they were queen before. Other symbols were on their skin; for example, the former queen of the Spades kingdom, Alexander Kirkland, now had a snake intricately weaving around his arm.
They set off to find their respective kingdoms, and eventually found them. All of the lands were lost without their queens; eventually hunting for anyone who had genes to give birth to a queen, even though they knew that was impossible. Only queens gave birth to queens.
But, after centuries of hunting and finally giving up, rumors were heard of a child who could control the weather with their emotions.
Kings of kingdoms brought crown princes born of their concubines. As luck had it, all the crown princes blushed and stared, open mouthed, at the child, confused at the pull they had towards them.
The kings were overjoyed. This was what their families had been waiting for centuries. But looking around at their sons' rivals, they felt a nervousness take place in their chests.
Alfred, Arthur, Ivan, Daniel, Francis, Noah, Ludwig, and Kiku all wanted to spoil the child rotten, but they had disappeared on the second day of visiting.
The boy who'd taken them smiled as he sat on a thick branch in the forest in which no one dared to venture.
After all, Jokers were not incapable of love.
