Eleri was incredibly bored. She had sat in her dull brown room for almost an hour trying to read a passage on the history of the pyramids and failing. It wouldn't have been so bad had she been anywhere near the pyramids but she wasn't. She was in the absolute middle of nowhere.

Only around twenty people had been forced to come on this supposed, chance of a lifetime adventure, by their parents. Shoved out into the middle of nowhere with all the other delinquents that "needed a chance to get some fresh air." Or in her words finally let their parents be rid of them.

It wasn't as though Eleri's parents didn't love her (although she had questioned it a few times.) They just couldn't bare to look at her, with her long dark hair emerald eyes and pale skin, she like her brother.

He was dead.

Everyone had told her that there was still a chance he was alive. That his kidnappers may not have killed him, but she knew better, she was his twin and felt the moment his heart stopped. Then when his mind stopped. And then when he finally died.

Nobody had believed her, that she felt him die. But they were just looking for an excuse to hope that he wasn't gone. Eleri thought that was cruel. She watched her parents get their hopes up every time the police thought they had a lead, then watched them fall even deeper into despair than before.

Only time could heal pain and her parents kept on reopening that gash every time they let themselves hope.

Eleri sighed and pulled her smooth hair back into a high ponytail and finally put down the book to readjust her prickly bed sheet. That nasty thing was mixture of brown and gray with weird stains on it, she was certain might have bed bugs inhabiting them. Keeping her up at night no matter how many times she had been assured that all facilities had been checked.

Ida agreed with and was the one person she had become friends with in the long four days she had been here. There was a mug on her desk filled with the bitter taste of hot coffee that was the only thing keeping her awake this early in the morning, glancing at the clock she realized it was almost four and her body was still experiencing extreme jet lag from the trip from Maine halfway across the globe in, Malou Egypt.

Taking a long sip of her coffee she pondered over whether Ida was awake or not, and if she wasn't would it be appropriate to wake her up to discuss if it was okay to try and make run for it in hopes of reaching civilization before they died of thirst and starvation.

Deciding against it she simply took another long drink of her coffee and set it down upon the discolored desk that matched, well frankly everything. It was all gray dusty and old. The mug however was a dark yellow and was the only thing of color that stood out, except her clothes. Eleri loved bright colors and glitter/sparkles.

She was currently wearing a dark blue top with stars on it, like in Coralline, a movie that terrified her, and pink sweatpants that could verge on yellow depending on what angle you looked at them from. She also was wearing a bracelet. It was just plain braided black twine that had nothing special about it except that it belonged to her brother, Alec.

She picked up the book again with a sigh still standing, and skimmed the next few lines.

"Screw it bitches I am not staying up any later to learn about something I  will never need to learn about." she muttered to herself with a huff and turned out the small lampshade that was right next to her and climbed into bed.
