The abandoned park sitting on a rock by the lake. That's where she first saw him, Elijah.
He had relatively long dark hair and a quiet apathetic face to him. As if he were taking in the scenery.
"Why did you move here?" De asked. She'd seen him around school, but only had one class with him, study hall. He'd usually catch up on sleep in there, though, so shed not gotten a chance to speak to him. That is until now.
"I was supposed to move to Colorado but... there was a change of plans" He spoke quietly. He seemed to be a little nervous but that didn't stop Destiny's curiosity.
What stopped her curiosity was the sad eyes he held right then and there at that moment.
So she just sat down on the dirt next to the rock and watched the ripples in the lake with him.
"You know, I find comfort in the way the leaves rustle when the wind blows." She said.
He didn't exactly knew what she'd meant but for some reason the sentence poked at his heart. He'd always had an appreciation for stopping and staring. Taking advantage of the little things, and seeing their beauty. It seemed like she had too.
"I like your name, by the way." She said.
"You're so random." Elijah smiled softly and laughed a little. "Thank you... you too." He responded glancing at her. He found De looking straight back at him. As if she were studying him and he wondered how long she were staring at him.
They looked at each others eyes for a few moments, Elijah hooked on hers and De curious for his.
Their connection broke when De's ringtone rang in her pocket. She answered her phone and looked away. "Hello?...Okay, yeah... Im on my way... yeah... okay... love you too, bye." A short and simple conversation.
"Well my mom wants me back. I'm not allowed to be out after sunset."
"Oh, okay. That sucks" Elijah said
"Ha, yeah I know. I've lived with her most of my life." She responded, openly, standing up and brushing the dirt off her jeans.
"You chose a beautiful place to relax... few come to this place. It's peacefully away from the world it seems sometimes." She smiled.
"Yeah-" Elijah laughed. "It's beautif-"
"Well, I'll talk to you later." De said, not hearing him begin to speak. He shifted awkwardly, pulling out his phone to look at the time. It was 7:30 pm.
"Have a good night." He said with a soft smile. De laughed quietly and nodded. "You too... enjoy the nature."
And she walked away down the path that led her home.
"I always do." Elijah said after she left. He always did.
