Ava's POV
My mum used to always tell me how everyone should be accepted for who they are. Sometimes I feel like asking her to tell that to my friends.
Unfortunately, I've been best friends with a girl called Chloe ever since we were eight. She's always been bossy and vain and she always has to be the populast in the class. If you're unpopular or "uncool" she instantly takes a disliking to you, and if I don't dislike them too then she'll make sure I will.
Her current enemy is a boy called Diego. And if he's her enemy, he has to be mine too. I kind of like him but I haven't really ever talked to him. Maybe i'll soon change my mind.
My "squad" are basically Chloe's minions, they act as if Chloe is some sort of god. They're all obsessed with her. They always compliment her, copy her, stand behind or beside her. They just can't get enough of her and it really amazes me.
But they're not the only ones. Girls and boys (lots of boys) are exactly the same. They always have to have her notice them. Then they'll feel special.
But Diego isn't like that. He doesn't care about school or popularity or anything really. He usually sits on his own, sometimes a few of his friends will join him but they're usually hanging out with popular people who also Diego detests, mainly because they're so stupid and arrogant.
Yeah, I know a lot about Diego. I find him interesting.
"Noah is staring. Again." Chloe said after rolling her eyes at him. He then quickly looked away, his face turning red.
"Just ignore him" I muttered as I carried on writing about French stuff.
"No." Chloe responded sharply. "I'm not that harsh."
Yeah right I wanted to tell her, but last time I did that she slapped my cheek and her nail, which is far too long, scratched my face. It stayed on my cheek for like two weeks and it did not look cool. Especially when I tried to talk to my crush. He was staring at my cheek the entire time, I don't think he realised that I could tell.
My current crush is my best friend. His name is Liam and he is basically the populast boy in my year. He's great at sport, usually team captain and every girl loves him. Literally every girl. Except from Chloe, who's more interested in mixed race boys.
However he doesn't feel the same way. He likes a different girl who's quiet, geeky and extremely clever. To me she isn't the prettiest however she isn't ugly and not everyone has the same opinion on beauty. She has straight, dark brown hair which goes to her shoulders and a bob. Her classes are black and thick rimmed and her eyes are emerald green. When she does speak however she sounds so well spoken, sometimes I get jealous.
Liam and his crush, Aimee, have never talked to each other and I'd love to see Aimee's face when she finds out that the populast and handsomest boy in the school likes her. I'm sure she'd be flattered.
It's kind of like in the movies. When a boy who's way out of a certain girl's league likes that certian girl and then the certain girl falls for him and they live happily ever after.
"What are you grinning at?" Chloe spat, giving me a look full of annoyance.
"Nothing." I muttered.
We both then carried on working, talking about things which I couldn't care less about.
