I watch her fall down the steps towards me. It is not her fault. All of the humans are running up the stairs trying to get away from me. From the pain I would cause them. She tries to reach out, to grab anything that would save her, but only her head is able to make contact.

I watch her face contort in pain. I watch her blink a few times. I watch her try to crawl away. I watch her eyes widen in fear when she sees me begin to descend upon her.

I hear a strange sound come out of her mouth. It is not a word in any language. It is how people respond to my touch. Then they grow silent.

Her hair lights up first. At this split second when only their hair becomes a veil of flames, I fall in love with humans. They look mystical.

But then her clothing lights up, and her skin turns red.

I completely engulf her, and soon enough I hear nothing but my own roars of despair.

This is when my love ends and my hate begins.
