“You have no idea what you're talking about.” Marcus glared at the blonde.

“Oh I think I do. You might not like it, but its the truth.”

“He is my Alpha and he is your Alpha, now show him some damn respect!” Marcus growled out, his sense of duty to his brother was strong and he wouldn't let anyone bad mouthed his twin.

“He is not my Alpha,” Valerie bit out. Her tone getting angrier. “I pinpointed all of the possibilities Marcus and your brother seems like the prime suspect.”

“What about the rival packs?” Marcus questioned, his anger evident in his voice.

“Yes, they can be possible threats but what motive do they have? Besides if they take you out, they still need to take your brother out too. Taking out the Alpha would put a huge dent in morality. But taking you out would not only damage moral support, but also cause catastrophic problems. Without you there, your brother wouldn't have so much support. He knows that.”

“They can't get to him with me here.”

“Yes they can. They could have hired me and sent me to kill Magnus instead of you. It was easy for me to sneak into your stronghold and into your room. I could have easily sneaked into Magnus' and killed him without you even knowing it was me. If Magnus dies you would step up to be Alpha, you're more of an Alpha than your brother is. Getting rid of you first and then Magnus second would be the perfect plan to make the SilverMoon Pack fall apart.”

Valerie continued when Marcus didn't reply.

“Marcus I understand that this might be hard for you to take in. But, think about it. Yes, Magnus is the first born but he isn't leading the pack correctly. You've witnessed this. The rumors going around aren't great either. You're training children to fight Marcus.” The disgust in her voice made him cringed

“You've noticed the rules he's making don't make any sense, that werewolves have to be in at 9 PM? That's ridiculous, we're night dwellers. We can't change during the day and yet we are not allowed to change at night? And the borders.”

“What about the borders?” Marcus questioned lowly.

“Have you not noticed how they have decreased over the years?” Valerie asked, she could feel the frustration and disbelief surrounding the male.

“How do you know about that?”

“Jack told me.” She quickly said.

“Fucking Jack...” Marcus growled, pushing a hand through his thick brown hair.

“Marcus you patrol the borders and yet you don't notice how they have been shrinking?”

“Of course I have! The other two packs are closing in and I'm trying to settle fucking disputes everyday Valerie! I'm not blind.” He bit off. She winced at the word. He quickly realized what he just said and tried to make amends “Valerie, I didn't mean...”

“Save it.” Valerie raised a hand to stop him from speaking, she changed the subject back. “Your brother is the culprit. He is the only one that has control over the lands, he should be able to protect his territory. What kind of leader would let others' take what is his?”

“The stupid kind.” A deep, rumbling voice said. “Or more like the gullible type.”

Valerie and Marcus turned swiftly to face the intruder.

Valerie tried to catch the male's scent but came up with nothing. She tensed and tried her hearing to pinpoint him and yet nothing came to her. Only silence. It was like he wasn't even there.

What was going on? She was able to hear Marcus clearly and she knew she heard him just a while ago. But now, its like he's not there. Her sense of hearing was superb, so why wasn't it working now?

What the hell?

Marcus took in the other male, sizing him up. His midnight hair almost blended into the darkness of the night while his amber-like eyes glowed demonically. His posture screamed out arrogance and danger.

He was big, but Marcus was bigger. Marcus growled a warning.

Marcus' eyes narrowed. “Who the hell are you?”

“Why, you don't remember me SilverMoon?”

Valerie heard him that time, but then silence again. It was like she could only hear him when he wanted her to. But that wasn't possible.

Marcus kept his eye on the other male, “Beta of the MountainStone. What are you doing here you bastard?”

“Couldn't help but hear the spat between you and the little gal here.” The male gave a toothy grin. His eyes straying to the blonde, letting his gaze go slowly up and down her posture. “My my my what a lovely specimen you are.”

Marcus' growl grew.

Valerie inched slowly towards Marcus but was stopped when she felt the sharp wind shift next to her left ear. She lifted a hand to her left cheek and felt the sticky blood from the small cut. The metallic smell filled her nostrils and the scent of Marcus was evident but that was all she could smell.

Her hand tightened.

“I wouldn't do that if I were you.” A new voice protruded from the darkness.

Valerie asked, her voice hiding the panic that was slowly rising in her. “And who are you?”

“Hunter.” The MountainStone Beta warned lowly, “Be nice.”

Valerie asked her question again. “Who are you?”

“Oh let me introduce ourselves,” The Beta began. “My name is Collin and this fine archer is Hunter.”

“What business do you have of here MountainStone?” Marcus spat the name as if it was poison.

“Oh Marcus, Marcus, Marcus. We've been watching you and the lovely lady since she has failed to kill you.” Collin grinned as Valerie's lips formed a slight frown. “Your little accusation was very wrong my dear. Very wrong. I thought better of the BloodyStar rogues, guess I was wrong. But you see I can't let you continue with this detective game so we're going to finish the job for you.”

Marcus' eyes turned amber. “The two of you won't be able to take me down.”

“Who said it was just the two of us?”

Valerie tensed. There were more of them? But where? She didn't hear them. Something was wrong, very wrong. Why couldn't she hear them? She tried using her sense of smell and came up with nothing.

What is going on? Valerie thought, a feeling of dread filled within her.

They're using something to mask their presence from you. Some kind of magic. Don't let it get to you. Her wolf tried to calm her down. But she couldn't help but feel fear and panic. She was truly blind with none of the senses that she relied upon to help her.

Fuck. Valerie had never felt so blind. Her hands tightened into fists. She tried to push the fear and panic away.

Valerie, do not let them get to you. We will fight and we will survive like we always have, even without our other senses. Her wolf calmly stated, she was not ready to die and she would not let her host die either. Valerie let me out......Let's show them who they are messing with. Let me out.....NOW!
