I was soaring, flying high above the city. Not on an airplane, of course. Why would I do that when I had such fantastic wings? My rainbow-hued parrot wings spread above me and carried me through the bright blue sky., I looked down at the constant hubbub of the city below. The people look like ants, I thought, and licked my lips.

I bet the civilians thought I was a plane! Haha, the simple thought is amusing. There's none going for an hour or two... sabotage is the best form of getting what you want. I hacked into the system, and changed all the flights to go to that exact same airport. A few were even in the air when I did it!

Smiling about my success, I did a twist in the air, flipping over to-

Oh no.

It was Kaito. The tall, bat-like boy was supposedly my 'brother' (I learned from a human library that parrots are a whole different kind of animal than bats), and flying several yards above me. He chases me around obnoxiously and never lets me have any fun. Even his sleeping habits are annoying.

"Ava, what are you doing!? You're going to get us caught!" He shouted, his huge brown wings flapped nervously. It was a few hors before sundown, early enough for him to be awake, but not early enough to go out, in his opinion. I'm glad I'm not nocturnal. I sighed and followed him towards our home, aka an abandoned space under an alley.

"Sorry, Kai, but I wanted to have some fun! It's boring when there aren't any people over." I sighed and folded my wings under my loose shirt, and made sure no one could see my loooong tail feathers. I glanced over at Kaito. His gaze was cold and seemingly unforgiving, but I knew that wasn't true. I can always sway his will.

"You could've just deleted the information about the planes scheduled, but no. You wanted to hack into the computer system and ruin the entire mechanism. Wonderful job. " He said sarcastically, with his signature screech of annoyance.

Not saying a word, I walked to my "room" (a space just barely separated from the main area) and dropped down on my hammock. It was just a few of the many ropes spiderwebbing through the room, holding up a perch that I slept on most of the time, and a few other things that would be in a typical human bedroom. There was a gargantuan pile of magic 8 balls and rubber balls, and spherical objects of many kinds. I have a passion for collecting them, heh. A small mirror was attached to the roof above the

hammock, forever reminding me that I had limits. I can't fly away, I can't do everything I want to, I can't be satisfied locked up in a hole.

I should probably tell you about Kaito's space. I don't go in very often, personal space and all, but what can I say? I'm naturally curious. His room is very very dark. There's a corner in which there's a bed of cotton, and it's very comfortable. He also has a perch, and he wears boots all the time to hide the claws that he uses to keep himself up all the time. I just have balance to stay still on top of my perch. Oh well. There's enough blood to last him a human lifetime, from an endless variety of animals, and not just ones humans know about. Fairy blood glows, can you believe that?

It's a bit unsettling that he has sharp fangs, as opposed to the human-like teeth I have. He also has a tendency to sit in my area while I'm sleeping, which is weird when you see a face directly above you. At least, I can keep him awake, with loud calls and shouts. Because I'm good at that.

Okay, I think that's enough staring at the ceiling, I've been here... Three hours? I must have dozed off. I'm hungry, I don't usually fly for as long as I did today. I wonder if there's still an orange left... Kaito is probably out hunting. He likes fresh blood better, and the dozens upon dozens of bottles he makes are a last reserve. Last reserves are usually smaller, though. I walked to the food side of the main area, eyes glinting a bit when I saw that we did, in fact, have several oranges left. I grabbed one and immediately started clawing the peel off, stomach growling. I watched Kai walk in, completely unaware...

Screeeee!

He jumped back, my shrill squeal startling him badly. "AVA- I SWEAR TO CAMAZOTZ IF YOU DO THAT ONE MORE TIME-" I laughed.

"You're easy to scare. You also need to be more aware." I threw a piece of orange in my mouth and smiled. "This is the thirtieth time, I think you would've learned by now!"

Kaito huffed and flapped his wings indigenously. "You have a horrible sense of humor." He turned away to go outside to hunt, as I thought he did hours ago. Finishing the orange, I tossed the peel into the trash and started towards the door. "Aha, ahahaha, no. You aren't coming. Go sleep, Ava."

"I never get to go with you, though!" I protested. It wasn't... entirely true. I went with him on full moons, to protect ourselves from various attacks and searches. But on those days, we were running, not hunting, with things tied to our ankles and bags in our hands, flying as high as we could and trying to be hidden. Kai always blocked my sight, but I know there are others of us. I saw three in particular; a girl with golden-brown hair and a tail the same too, presumably a horse; another with big tan lion ears and a lion tail. And there was another, another one that Kai saw too. I barely saw them, but they had huge brown

wings, even bigger than Kai's. He grabbed my hand and told me we had to go before I saw more.

He just turned away and left. I heard the clock of the door locking, and I frowned. The one time he does something intelligent, and it's this. I chirped a little tune and settled down to watch Once Upon A Time reruns.

"So this is the girl, Lupa?"

"Yes."

"When is your attack, Lupa?"

"Three day's time, small one. You will find them in three days' time."

"Will you attack us all?"

"You will not be harmed, understood?"

"I understand."
