There stood, once, a large unweathered stone. It was the steadfast heart of a young man. He knew no sorrow, no grief, no pain. That is, he didn't until love was first introduced.

        Love, a mother's tender embrace, a father's pride.

Love, a friend sharing their snacks on the first day of school.

Love, a young woman dainty and dignified standing alone amongst the others.

Love, the young man who won her affections.

Love, the arrow shot from cupids own bow the night they first kissed.

Love, seeing their child for the first time together.

Love, making the grief that much harder to bear when anything goes wrong.

Love, the one who hammers away at that stone, who shapes it however he pleases.

The problem with this magnanimous creature? It knows no bounds, and can tear away at a person when times get tough.

Love is the coroner examining those you hold most dear; it's the priest conducting the sermon at the funeral. Love is light, and fun, and airy. At least, it is most of the time. But nothing lasts forever, even if you want it to. The love won't usually end, but the pleasantries of it often will. And when grief strikes, love's only concession is to send you right into grief's soul sucking arms. And the stronger the love, the harder the fall. Because everything comes with a price, sadly. And love is no exception. Eventually, everything you adored will end and love will come to cash in.

This is a short description I did as an assignment for my creative writing class. We were given a random abstract noun and were told to personify it in third person, and again in first. But my third person was better than first, in my opinion. I'm really happy with this, and that's why I'm actually publishing this. Any feedback is appreciated, hopefully I'll post again soon!
