"Before ya hit me, I figured it was best I interfered before you got yourself really hurt. Darry'd skin ya alive if you got into a fight, and he'd have my head for letting it happen." he laughed. I shrugged and started walking away. He caught up with me and snaked his arm around my waist. When I tried to push him off, he held on tighter. "It's just so you don't get jumped again." he explained. I nodded.

   "So I don't get a hello? Not even a thank you? I could've let you get raped, ya know." he stated.

   "Thanks." I mumbled, shoving him off as the Curtis house came into sight.

   "You don't gotta be so uptight, doll. That's what we got Darry for!" he laughed as we arrived at the house. I ducked my head down and walked inside, my hands shoved in my pockets.

   "Jesus, Two-Bit, what'd you do to her? I ain't ever seen a more nervous looking broad in my life!" I heard Steve exclaim. As Two explained, I curled up on the couch, staring at the tv.

   "ADDY ADDY ADDY!!!" Soda yelled as he ran in and jumped on me. I screamed and shrunk underneath him, putting my knees up against his chest and kicking him off me.

   "Well damn, girl! Remind me not to get on your bad side!" Two laughed.

   "Ow." Soda groaned, rubbing his head.

   "I'm so sorry, holy shit, you scared me." I mumbled, covering my face.

   "It ain't nothing to worry about, just a little bump is all." he said, grinning as he sat up. Steve jumped on him and they started wrestling. Sighing, I curled back up and continued watching my Mickey marathon. Two sat down next to me, his eyes glued to the tv.

   "Did you eat anything today, Adalyn?" Darry asked.

   "Yeah." I lied.

   "Good." he said, then disappeared into his room.

   Soda climbed on top of me and just laid there, sprawled out like a starfish. I groaned and watched the tv over his shoulder.

   "I'm not that heavy!" he protested.

   "No, but I'm significantly smaller than you." I wheezed, trying to push him off. He laughed and hugged me, flipping me over so I was on top of him. Sighing, I laid my head on his chest and continued watching tv.

   "Y'all are hoggin' the couch." Two-Bit complained.

   "Get on the floor, then. I'm comfy." Soda replied. Two-Bit grumbled, but got up and went to the kitchen. He returned a minute later with a beer, and sprawled out on the floor. I laughed a little.

   "What's so funny, blondie?" he asked.

   "Which one?" I replied.

   "Smart ass." he laughed.

                                                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   "Why can't you just leave me alone, dammit!" I exclaimed in frustration as Two-Bit made yet another joke at my expense. Sodapop and Pony, who sat on either side of me, flinched. The gang all stared at me.
   "Oh, so you do talk. Fantastic." Two remarked.
   "You are honestly the most aggravating person on the planet, Two-Bit Mathews." I snapped.
   "I'm only, joking, Adalyn, damn, lighten up." he said brazenly. I felt my face turn red with anger.
   "'Joking', my ass! You don't even know me! So do me a favor and shut the fuck up before you get hurt." I argued, seeing red.
