Chapter 1

Sit here and I'll tell you a story.

Okay Grandpa.

Now you have to bare with me, I'm getting old these days.

You're not old grandpa, your wise.

I'm glad you think so Aurora. Now back to the story...

When I was a boy there was this old oak tree where I'd go to be by myself. But this wasn't just any old  oak tree. This oak tree has a secret. This oak tree is the Tree of Life itself.

The door however only works for a special person.

What do you mean?

Well hold on you're getting ahead of me now.

Sorry.

It's fine, just hold all your questions till the end okay?

The white headed girl shakes her head yes as she smiles waiting for her grandpa to continue this story he has started. Before the story is complete Aurora falls asleep.

Aurora woke up rubbing the sleep out her eyes, looking around her room trying to piece together the memory that had just disappeared. Many of her nights ended with her grandpa telling her a story and her falling asleep before getting to the end. Aurora is a 16 year old girl who has her mother's big blue eyes, the longer version of her grandpa's white hair, and the brightest smile. Aurora wasn't your ordinary child. She was different from at the kids in her class and definitely smarter than them, but she also has a gift.

'Gift' is the word her grandpa used when explaining why there was a lost little girl in the little red dress standing by the door but only they could see her. Aurora could communicate to the dead and even go into the past to help them move on. Aurora could see dead people ever since she was a baby. She inherited this gift from her grandpa and he helped her deal with it. He showed her how to talk to them without scaring them, because believe it or not most spirits of the dead don't know that they are dead.

Aurora looked at her phone trying to understand what time of day it was. 4:30 am. She let out a 'Ugh' as her head plopped back against the pillow and returned to her sleep. Slowly her grandpa came back into view waiting for her as if she had never left...

Now where were we?

The door opening only for special people.

Ahh right.

The door only opens for special people like you and I. This door is a passage way back and forth between our world and the world of lost souls. I have helped many spirits move on but every once and while there would be a bad one. Listen carefully now, there is one spirit that is the worst of them all. He goes by Maldito, the cursed one. Maldito wants to live again so bad he has done the worst thing that one spirit can do. He has trapped other souls in something far worst than the world of lost souls.

What could be worst than the world of lost souls?

The world of the Damned. There is only one way to rescue a soul from the world of the Damned. That is for a person like you to physically go to the Damned world and save them. Not even an angel can go to the Damned world.

What does this have to do with me? What are you trying to tell me grandpa?

He is coming back Aurora and he wants.........

All of a sudden the sound of ringing came from what seemed far away but hastily approaching.

"RING" "RING" "RING"
