An old abandoned palace in the mountains....untouched by Mythcrean paws for ages.... Said to be filled with ancient texts....perhaps it was once a library. These books are priceless, so The Sage decreed that our strong bond was up to the task of retrieving them. And so we find ourselves at the foot of the mountain, dropped off there by one of The Sage's flying forms.

With an anxious sigh, Pisces looks up at the mountain in apprehension.

"I'm suddenly not too sure I can do this, Silence."

Silence stared up the mountain side for a brief moment, observing the trial they would soon undertake. He then turned to his partner and nuzzled her nose with his own, comforting her.

"Together we shall overcome." Silence whispered.

He began moving towards the slope creating a path for Pisces to follow. If anything bad should happen, it would happen to him first. Pisces blushed a little under her fur, immediately reassured.

"Of course!" She replied with a smile.

She followed behind him for a moment before deciding to walk side-by-side. She'd hate for something bad to happen to either of them before the other. Silence's ears perked up when he heard Pisces advance to walk by his side. Truly, this was a loyal companion.

The pair came across a narrow pathway that led to a gap which seemed too large to jump.

"How shall we approach this?" Silence asked.

Pisces's tail lashed a bit as she contemplated the dilemma.

"Hmm...." She hummed to herself as she looked at her surroundings.

Her eyes fell on a dead tree growing (though not anymore) near the edge of the cliff. Her eyes sparkled as an idea entered her mind. Walking over to it, she called out to Silence. "Do you think we could use this thing?"

Silence nodded, and with a forceful blow towards the trunk of the tree, knocked it over so that it made a makeshift bridge across the gap. "I will go first to make sure it is safe."

His footsteps ever quiet, he softly yet quickly plodded his way across the tree, and within a few mere moments was on the other side of the gap. "Your turn. You'll be alright." He reassured Pisces.

Pisces gasped quietly at her friend's strength. "You're really strong, Silence." She mumbled, half to him and half to herself. As he travelled across the fallen tree safely, Pisces prepared herself to do the same. But as she neared its yellowed bark, she accidentally looked down. Her vision wobbled and teetered, and she immediately backed away.

She shook her head, eyes meeting with Silence's. "I c-can't do it, Silence."

"Keep your eyes focused only on mine." he whispered softly, yet his voice somehow carried across the gap. Silence often spoke in a whisper, but he whispered in such a way that his voice could be heard clearly, even through heavy winds.

Pisces gulped, knees shaking. "B-but I've already seen how far down it is! It doesn't matter if I look away, the danger's still there and it scares me!" She feebly protested. 'Yeah, great job Pisces! Keep complaining, it aught to do a WORLD of good for you now!' She mentally chastised herself.

Externally however, she took a shaky step forward. "B-but I'll try it. I'm just really scared of falling and dying. D-dying would really suck, y-you know?" She attempted to comically reply. She gazed into Silence's kind, blue eyes and attempted to use them to ground herself as her foot rested on the trunk of the tree.

Her pace was shaky, yet steady. She prevented herself from looking down again, mentally reminding herself that that was a really stupid thing to do. And soon enough, she collapsed in front of her friend on the other side.
