How did she get herself into these situations? She tried to keep safe...to fly under the radar as it were, but every time without fail, she got herself into trouble, brought into the limelight by some unexpected turn of events.
'But I don't mind this trouble' She thought, overflowing with adrenaline and excitement, as Jack pressed his warm lips firmly yet gently against hers.
Through her shock, Roxy heard the shouting and screaming of the crowd, and broke the kiss off quickly, grateful that the lighting hid the red staining her cheeks. Giving Jack a small smile, she turned her attention to the judges, who smiled at them reassuringly before turning to each other and discussing the performance they had just seen, looking for any faults or mistakes that would lower their score.
Roxy and Jack turned to look at the screen fastened to the back of the stage, waiting for their score to show up. They were the last act, and were aware that the judges had already seen some mind-blowing acts. At the moment, the first place slot was held by a couple that had performed an amazing, very emotional ballet piece, and had scored 47 out of 50. The closest score to theirs was 32, so they were very far ahead. 'And they deserve it' Roxy thought to herself. 'Their dance was so smooth and controlled, matching the music perfectly and they flowed and moved through the dance as though they were one person.'
Fiddling with the hem of her silky black dress nervously, Roxy waited for the judges to decide. They were still smiling, so it was either very good or hilariously bad. Oh, she really hoped they hadn't come last. They had worked so hard on their routine, spending hours every day going over the moves, checking choreography, practicing and practicing and practicing until they were ready to fall asleep on the worn wooded floor of the abandoned studio they were using to dance! Both of them felt it could not have been any better, but, suddenly, she wasn't so sure.
Noticing her nerves, Jack chuckled quietly, and took her hand in his. He was dressed in black slacks and a deep, midnight blue shirt, matching her black, knee length dress and blue clip and necklace perfectly. They had fallen in love with the costumes the moment they had seen them, however, neither had seen the other in them until the performance that had finished only moments before.
Glancing back at the couple on the stage one last time, the judges seemed to come to a decision, and entered the score into the computer positioned on the desk in front of them. The entire audience, group of performers, and the couple on the stage held their breath as the neon light flickered on, forming Roxy and Jack's score...
AN: Hey there. So, this is the first story I have published, or even shown to other people. I hope you like it. I know that this chapter is really short and ends abruptly, but it was just to set the scene for later in the story. The other chapters should be at least 1000 words. Anyway, please comment. Like it? Hate it? Please let me know. Thanks :)
