"Nobody said
It was easy
It's such a shame for us to part ."

"You crashed like the rain onto the sidewalk.
Watering everything you came cross.
I'm like an ant, you drowned me with your love and pure heart.
And like the rain you stopped.
You left me dry.
To wait.
Alone."

He scanned the classroom. Watching every pain-filled eye as they stared back. The eyes are like a door to the soul. Her door was closed. He moved the paper away from my chest. Looking down at his feet. "Excellent Job Brandon. Capturing the audiences attention. Leaving them with nothing but the end having them each interpret what each stanza meant. Great Job."

He got Timothy's approval. Talya's approval. Everyone but her. At one point he was her everything, now she has nothing.

"So class copy Brandon's styles, come back tomorrow with a piece of deep emotion, feeling....any feeling. Class dismissed."

Timothy said as the bell rang. Like robots each student stood up and went to the door each leaving one by one going outside to mingle.

Her brown hair was the last thing he saw as  the crowd was walking over her tracks. Gone like the rain.
He can't use his phone to check when she might come back. Unlike weather she's unpredictable. At first it drew him in but that's what made them stop.

He walked up the lonely back stairway that no student seemed to discover yet. It was reserved for them when they had to had to sneak around, hide from family. It was dangerous but that's who she was.

Back straight, hair back, legs together, chestnut eyes, guilty smile.

"Hey Cal..."

Tapping on the door lightly he entered the room surrounded by what he loved most. Music and her.

"Hi Brandon." She said refusing to look at him.

He walked to the window she was at and sat across from her.

His fingers shifting over each key, every note melodic.
"What is that?" She asked
"The piece, I wrote it."
"You wrote it."
"Yea..."

Their official/ unofficial first conversation. The conversation that started it all. Because of that they ended up here. No music, no words just silence. Their mouths weren't moving but their hearts were screaming, pleading for release to be set free from this trap they both led themselves into.

"Callie you're adopted, we can't"
"Who says?" She asked him looking at him with her danger filled eyes. Stepping closer. Wrapping her arms around  his neck, bringing her face closer, finally letting go of what they have been holding onto since the day at the court when she admitted her and Brandon were over. Their mouths talk but their hearts always get them in trouble. They kiss. They both melt into each other. "I love you." "I love you too forever and ever and ever."

"What is it Brandon? Came here to read me more poems?" She asked anger evident in her voice.

"No." Brandon responded taken aback by her snappy tone.

"Then what is it?" She asked a small burp escaped her mouth as she hid the bottle from Brandon.

"Callie, you already know how I feel about that. My dad's been an alcoholic for all my life. Don't try to hide from me. What's going on why are you doing this to yourself?" He asked, his hand on her arm rubbing the tender skin as goosebumps began to rise.

"Fuck.....off"

She said slowly. Emphasizing each word.

"Brandon leave me alone. Go take care of your little bar slut and her son okay. I'm messed up. You don't want me anymore. Right isn't that why we broke up so you could be with her." Callie said another burp leaving her mouth.

Brandon held back any emotion he knew it was too late. The liquor already possessing her brain. He knows it .....he felt it....
She is going down the same hill he did when she blew him off for Wyatt 3 years ago. A different bar a different girl.

"Callie, you know I love you and I always will. So much I had to break up with you. You're my foster sister. You could've gotten kicked out. Remember we promised to never let each other give up on our dreams. It would be fucked up for me to let me miss out on an amazing family. I've had my 18 years." He said caressing her thigh.

"Fuck you, y-you ass hole." She said moving her leg, her eyes watering. Tears begging to spill out. "Brandon you don't know how hard it is for me to not do anything. How hard it is for me to drown my pain in alcohol because you broke up with me. You got together with Courtney. You had sex with her. You said you loved her. You guys break up and just expect me to fall back in your arms. Writing me poems making it seem like you're the victim. It's been played out for way too long Brandon. You have no right to write me poems..... I hate you Brandon. I hate loving you. I hate you for loving me. I hate you for having sex with me. I hate you, but there's not a damn thing I could do about it. I'm so fucking mad and pissed at you but I'm crazy about you at the same damn time. That's what's fucked up Brandon."

Callie said wiping a tear from her face quickly, grabbing her bag and making her way to the door. She looked back once and said to him "The crazy thing is my dream is...was to be truly happy with love, not a piece of paper."

He walked into her room and sat on her bed. As she looked up at him their fingers almost interlocking. He looked at her and knew what he had to do. He loved her and she loved him in that moment they were in love, truly and purely.

"Oh take me back to the start."
