(Poem written in free time, Autumn 2015)

There was a boy that I loved long ago

Who turned out to have some obscene addiction

I loved him for long after he disappeared

Because, my dear, truth is stranger than fiction

There was a lady I met on the streets

who yelled that she understood my affliction

I smiled and thanked her and went on my way

Why? Because truth is much stranger than fiction.

There was a boy who may have loved me

Whose story was messy with odd contradictions

he made passes, but soon he, too, disappeared

Because truth is always much stranger than fiction.

There's a girl for whom I'm head-over-heels

Who walks with a purpose and speaks with conviction

I'll never tell her that things are like this

Since for me, the truth is much stranger than fiction.

These are the secrets I keep under wraps

Away from man's comments and meddling and friction

Secrets to fill in my mind's frozen gaps

Because, my dear, truth is much stranger than fiction.
