I pulled my arrow back, the feathers brushing my cheek. I breathed quietly, nothing but a whisper on the wind. The rabbit that had appeared in front of me hopped around, nibbling plants on the jungle floor. My arrow was pointed at it, trained on its body.
"Piper?" A voice sounded from behind me, startling the rabbit, making it spring away.
I acted fast, turning my arrow to it and releasing the arrow. I didn't worry about the arrow missing, I never missed. With a whoosh and a thunk, the arrow from my bow had embedded itself in the rabbit.
I whipped around, annoyed that someone had disturbed my hunting. Felix stood there, looking slightly fearful.
"What is it Felix?" I sighed, turning back around and strolling over to the dead rabbit.
"Well Pan told me to come get you. He said he has something important he wants to discuss." Felix explained, following after me.
"Alright. Go ahead and head back. Tell him I'll be there shortly." I picked up the rabbit, ripping the arrow from its side. Blood oozed out of it, sticking to its fur. Felix had disappeared as soon as I had said the words, already heading back to camp.
I grabbed the large, heavy bag of game I had shot down, slipping the rabbit's body inside. I slung the bag over my back, the animal carcass's weighing down on me.
I disappeared in to thin air, reappearing back at the camp. The Lost Boys were whispering to one another, gathering in groups, and playing games while talking excitedly. There must be rumors going around about something. But I was most likely about to find out what that rumor was.
I headed to the weapons room. Dropping my game bag I quickly hung my bow and quiver filled with arrows up. I studied the wall, making sure that none of the weapons were missing. All the weapons on this wall were my personal weapons and no one was allowed to use them but me.
I grabbed my sack of game, quickly walking over to the food storage. I dropped the animals off to the boys in the hut, then was off towards my brothers hut, anticipation and curiosity welling up inside of me.
I knocked in the door as soon as I got there and the door opened up instantly, a hand reaching out and clutching me, pulling me inside.
"Really, Peter?!" I exclaimed, the door shutting behind me as I turned around, facing my brother...or, know as, Peter Pan. "What was so important that you had to disturb my hunting time?"
"We found him." Peter stated, a smirk appearing across his face. Of course he had to be talking about the Truest Believer. We have been searching for him for a while now, we needed him. To save our lives and to make Neverland and us stronger than ever before.
"Well, what are we waiting for! Tell the Lost Boys! This is great news!" I cried, about to pull open the door.
"Wait, Piper." Peter stopped me, slamming his hand in front of the door.
"What?" I groaned.
"I need a plan from you. You come up with the best of them." He states plainly.
"Of course." I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms in front of my chest. "Can't you come up with your own plan for once?" I was the one who always came up with the plans. They were great. Peter never came up with his own.
"No! I'm better at making the back-up plans, not the main plan! Come on! That's your job!" Peter whined.
"Fine." I sighed, with a roll of my eyes. "But can we tell the Lost Boys, first? They'll be so excited!"
"Alright." He agreed, walking out of the tent with me following. Each and every boy fell silent as we exited the tent. Peter gestures for me to tell them.
"Boys!" I called, all their eyes trained on me. "We have found the Truest Believer!"
The boys erupted into hoots and hollers of excitement. They smiled and laughed, elbowing one another.
"I am happy to say that we will all be surviving with finding this boy! He will be here soon and we will all be saved!" I yelled the announcement. "We will have a celebration tonight for finding him! Now get ready!"
The Lost Boys broke up, scrambling around to fetch firewood and set everything up for the celebration. I turned to Peter, smiling.
"Will you come up with a plan now?" He asked.
"I'll think up of something." I reassured, flipping my hair across my shoulder as I walked away.
* * * * *
The celebration party was set up and the boys danced around the crackling fire. They hooted and hollered, shouting in joy and excitement. They beat their sticks against each other, making music, and beating drums.
Felix was sitting on a log, staring into the fire while tossing a stick around in his hands. Peter was leaned up against a tree, a smirk planted on his face as he watched the Lost Boys dance. I was sitting up in a tree, watching it all with a smile from above. That was my favorite place to be. Sitting in a tree above the ground, studying everything beneath me.
Finally I jumped down, landing on the ground with a loud thump. I strolled over to Peter, leaning against the tree he was leaning against.
"Aren't you going to dance?" Peter asked, raising an eyebrow at me.
"Yeah, yeah, sure. But...I thought you just wanted to know...I came up with a plan." I grinned, jumping away before he could ask anymore questions.
I grabbed a pair of sticks, jumping in the circle of boys and began to dance to the beat of the drums. I smacked my sticks together, whirling around and sprung in the air along with the boys, excitement rushing through me. The fire flickered, lighting up the night around us, the smoke drifting through the air as we celebrated under the stars.
